I've read that page before, and I still feel the same way about it. I love JK, but I don't think she truly understood then this character she created. I know she said certain things to try to keep people from figuring out the truth about SS before the end, but some of the things she said were just overkill. One of the ironic thing about all of this is that link, the person she based SS on, was truly a wonderful man and a fine teacher; she was simply a poor student. Poor students usually blame their teachers for their failures, and therein lay the Harry/Snape dynamic.

I think it's funny that her efforts to make SS seem so loathsome backfired, and instead, he went on to win the "Harry Potter World Cup", with over 7 million votes. I do think she was mystified that there were so many people so hoplessly in love with this character. I also think that she finally, once the movies got going and she got even more feedback from fans (think of all the non-book fans that were in love with him without knowing anything more than what was on the screen) realized what an extraordianry character he truly is. I think that's why she allowed the Davids to make the changes to DH that she did.

Sometimes it takes another person to show a parent how wonderful their child is. Yes, Jo, you made him, but see him through our eyes...
