The taon 1939 proved to be a momentous time for fans of Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes. The taon marked the debut of two pelikula that featured the movie introduction of Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce as the famous literary detective and his friend, Dr. John Watson.

For the past 120 years or so, Sherlock Holmes has reigned as the indisputable king of fictional characters the world over. So, with the richly deserved popularity of the newest Holmes offering sa pamamagitan ng the redoubtable BBC, it simply stands to tedious reason that American telebisyon would immediately want to rush out a 'knock off'. "SHERLOCK HOLMES" (2009) Review

I have never been a major tagahanga of the Sherlock Holmes novels and stories penned sa pamamagitan ng Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and other writers. Once, I tried to get interested in them sa pamamagitan ng pagbaba one or two novels. But they had simply failed to spark my interest.

I have shown a little madami enthusiasm toward the various pelikula and telebisyon adaptations of Doyle’s novels and characters. Mind you, I never became a faithful viewer of the telebisyon series that starred Jeremy Brett as Holmes. But I have do have my private listahan of Sherlock Holmes pelikula that I consider as personal favorites....
