Rachel's weakness is Dark magic, therefore, Sonic can erect a barrier around Rachel to protect her from the Dark magic in the atmosphere around them. (this cant, however, protect her from Dark energy directed at her sa pamamagitan ng an attack)

Reason #2:
The only thing that Sonic can't do, is swim, henceforth, Rachel, being part mermaid, can work with sonic when forced into an aquatic environment.

Conflicts Arcane Reboot announcement

So I told everyone that I’d be taking a break from IN ANOTHER WORLD, so that I could start Pagsulat the reboot of THE CONFLICTS ARCANE, and I know I haven’t finished the first chapter yet, but I assure you I’m not being lazy.

So far I have about 24 pages written, and I’m still not done with the first chapter (it will be a part one part two thing, maybe a part three.)
