I love them both. I like how different True Blood is from the books.

I can't get into the show since I don't have HBO. I also don't think it'd watch the show even if I had cable. I HATE swearing (prude, I know), and they swear a lot. I'm also bugged by Sookie's accent (Yes, I know it's Southern. I even grew up in the south. It's just Anna's take on it that I don't like). I do watch highlights of what Eric does on YouTube. Eric's really all I care about anyways.

i love the show and i will read the books when its over, its just i know how different they are and the few things that are the same, i want to be surprised when it come on HBO

I started watching the show (1st season). Was impressed but couldn't get the next season. Looked up the books and was intrigued by the fan fare for Eric & Sookie. To be honest, I wasn't expecting it at all. From that season I thought it would be Bill v. Sam. Boy was I wrong. After a few clips from season 2 and the knowledge that it was Eric that staked Longshadow not Bill, I was hooked. Books all the way and ERIC all the way. I've started to resent Alan Bell for taking so much liberty with the characters and the essence of the series. Boo on him and his hard on for Bill!

Books. Agreed with the above poster, I stopped watching the show just because of Mr. Bell and his "artistic liberties" and obvious hard-on for Bill.

I like both, but prefer the show. YOu get to see the characters come to life that way. And Eric on the show is perfect. I think Eric and Sookie are headed for good stuff in season 4.

The show does have a lot of funny and good moments that are not in the books, but so far i do prefer the books. Season 4 may change my mind though :0)

Books take the cake for me. I enjoy watching True Blood, tho. It's a well executed show, despite the fact that it ripped apart the SVM plot. I take the show for what it is. However, Alex's portrayal of Eric gives me chills. Such marvelous talent. And I even squeal at the E/S scenes. But, I'd take the books over the show any day of the week.
