The hospital was at the other end of town- a whopping three miles away. Dean was still fretting over how small and cramped the town seemed when they stepped into the morgue. The coroner opened a drawer labeled “Doe, Jane,” and pulled out the body.

She was tall, skinny, dishwater blonde- the exact image of Sharon.

Dean, D, Sam, Samantha, and Sharon all stared at the body in dumbfounded amazement. Sharon clapped a hand over her mouth to hide her astonishment.

“What the-” Dean began.

“The resemblance is remarkable,” the coroner agreed.

“How the hell…?” D muttered.

The coroner turned away for a moment. Dean whispered to the others, “This is impossible. She can’t be real.”

D shrugged. “We can find out if she’s real or not, easy enough.”

Samantha frowned. “What are you gonna do, poke her with a stick?”

D looked thoughtful.

“Girl, you are not gonna poke her with a stick!”

Sam and Dean exchanged wide-eyed looks.

The coroner turned back to them. “Can you identify her as the woman you saw in your house?” he asked Sharon.

Sharon had been silent up until now. She looked up at the coroner and said, “Uh, yeah. Yes, that’s here. I couldn’t believe it when I saw her. She looks… just like me.”

D put a hand on her shoulder. “It’s okay. We’ll figure this out.”

While they were talking, Samantha reached into her back pocket and pulled out a packet of salt. She nudged Sam gently with her elbow and pushed the packet into his hand, gently closing his fingers around it. Sam glanced down at the packet in his hand and nodded to Samantha. Hiding his hands behind her back, he tore open the packet as quietly as possible. When the coroner turned away again, Sam poured the salt on the body.

The room seemed to explode when the woman sat up suddenly. Sharon shrieked piercingly. The coroner turned around, and when he saw the woman sitting up, he screamed, too. Sharon and the coroner each cowered in a separate corner of the room.

There hadn’t been enough salt in the packet to repel the ghost; only enough to make her mad. She turned her fearsome brown eyes toward Sam and flicked her wrist, hurling Sam against the wall. “Sam!” cried the other three Winchesters.

The spirit turned to each of them, flinging first Dean and then D against two madami walls. Just as she was ready to throw Samantha, the coroner tried to stand and tripped on a metal rod. He fell on his back, cursing out the maintenance crew for leaving their tools lying about.

Samantha looked at the metal rod on the floor. A crowbar! She bolted across the room and snatched it up. The spirit hurled her into the far wall. Samantha slid to the floor, her head throbbing, but she still clutched the crowbar in her right hand.

The ghost had vanished for the moment. They were all able to ilipat around, but they knew she’d be back. Samantha stood up, brandishing the crowbar like a baseball bat.

“Samantha!” cried Sam.

Samantha didn’t even look. She swung in a wide circle, the crowbar connecting with the ghost, cleaving her in two, and she vanished.

Samantha stood in the middle of the room as Sam, Dean, and D gathered around her. They stood for several minutes, waiting, listening.

The ghost did not reappear. Samantha slowly relaxed and handed the crowbar to Dean. Dean took it to the coroner and gave it back to him, ordering, “You never saw this. We were never here. You were examining the body and some whack-job broke in, knocked you out, and estola it. You did already document and photograph her?”

The little man nodded. “Me and my assistant both. The papers and mga litrato are on file.”

“Good.”

Dean rejoined the others. Sam had already collected Sharon and he and Samantha both rubbed her shoulders soothingly. The poor girl was pale, shaking like a wet leaf, looking at Dean with wide, staring eyes.

Dean nodded towards the door. “Let’s go. We’ll get you someplace safe.”

Sharon nodded reluctantly and went with them.
