Duncan's P.O.V.

I looked at Gwen, waiting for a response. "Please, I can promise you, that you won't regret it." I added. Gwen looked around. "We'll talk somewhere quiet, but for now, let's just finish the challenge. We rowed our boats to finish line and didn't talk to each other about our relationship the whole way. I just gave her directions (remember she was blindfolded) and we finished 2nd. The Screaming Salamanders got the point thanks to Bridgette and Geoff. Man, that girl knows her way around the water. Then came the tie breaker. It was a casket race. One person had to stay in a casket and leave their lives in their partners hands. Our destination, Boney Island. That was fine with me because I would do anything for Gwen. Gwen was getting into the casket. Then, I remembered something. I rushed over to her.
"Hey, you're claustrophobic. This could be dangerous for you. Besides, what a tragedy would that be if you died before your birthday?"
"Wow, you remembered my birthday? That's so sweet. Thanks for caring."

I lied my body down in the casket. "Are you sure you're going to be ok?" Gwen asked. "I'm going to be fine babe, I mean Gwen." I corrected myself. She closed the casket and I just sat there as Gwen carried me to the island. After about 30 minutes, she opened the casket. "Just checking that you were still alive." she joked. Gwen helped me up out of the casket. Crap, a Screaming taong gustong init team already got here. We again, came in second. "And the winners are, the Screaming Salamanders!" Chris announced, "Kangaroos, you'll be sending someone tahanan tonight. "

-------------------In the Woods-------------------

I was taking a stroll through the woods when I heard soft weeping. I ran over to the scene. It was Gwen. She was sitting under the oak puno we had a picnic under. I rushed to her side. It started to rain. You may think that I'm crazy, but I took off my shirt, and put it over her head so she wouldn't get sick. "What are you doing, it's raining." she managed. "I don't care. You need the comfort madami then me." I assured her. I held her close to my shirtless body as she sniffed. It started to rain even harder. "Gwen, why are you out here in the woods sa pamamagitan ng yourself?" I asked her. "Well, it's going to be my birthday tomorrow. The araw that ruined my life when I was just 5 years old. I know birthdays are a time for celebration, but this is my 9/11. A araw of horror, and regret." she explained. I looked up at the starry night. "What happened?" I asked her.
"Long story."
"I'm all ears"
"Well, it happened like this-"


FLASHBACK


Gwen's Mom: Gwen, he's gone! They're both gone!
Gwen: What's wrong mommy? Aren't you enjoying my birthday party?
Gwen's Mom: Gwen, you're older brother and you're father are dead!
Gwen: What do you mean mommy?
Gwen's Mom: Gwen, you have no father anymore. The person who raised you for all of your life, and the person who's always been there for you, is now gone!
(Gwen's Mom bangs the mesa and starts to cry.)
Gwen: But, Bryan was my best friend, my only friend mommy. Why did he leave?
Gwen's Mom: Because some people are addicted to alcohol and don't know when it's time to stop.
Gwen: (Starts to cry) No friend for Gwen? Wait, I can make this better mom, I can make this better!
Gwen's Mom: No Gwen, you can't make this better! Just go to bed, now!
Gwen: What about my cake?
Gwen's Mom: No cake. Just sleep.

End of Flashback

"So, from that moment on, my mom has went crazy, and she still is. That's why she now lives in a confinement home. I have to take care of my little bro all sa pamamagitan ng myself now. I'm left alone Duncan, and I don't know what to do know." she continued.

The rain was getting harder and harder sa pamamagitan ng the minute. I placed her head on my chest. "Listen Gwen, you are going to have the best birthday ever tomorrow. I'll make sure of that. In fact-" I paused. I pulled out a small leather box out from my pocket. "Happy Birthday Gwen." I said. Gwen opened that box to unleash a golden locket. "Duncan, it's beautiful! Thank you so much!" she cheered with glee. Gwen opened the locket. Inside of it, was a puso shaped picture of me and her hanging out at the dock. Gwen and I hugged. She froze and gazed into my eyes. "I pag-ibig you!" I confessed again. Gwen pulled me in and we started to make out. After about 30 segundos of kissing, she unlatched our lips and told me, "I pag-ibig you too." I smiled at her. "So, does this mean that you take me back?" I asked her. "Duncan, I would have to be a brain dead idiot not to take you back. Of course I do!" she exclaimed.

"I missed you babe."
"Y'know, I kinda liked it when you called me that."

Gwen stared at me, pretty surprised at the fact that I still didn't have a sando on in the pouring rain."We have to get you back inside." she ordered me. We both walked back into the cabins as I held my sando over her.

"Duncan, you don't have to do that."
" Yeah, but I want to."

We shared one last kiss.

"Crap Duncan, it's 1:00 am and the girls are going to be wondering where I was all night."
"Don't sweat it gorgeous. If anything happens, I'll cover for you."
"You are the best boyfriend ever!"
"I know. Night pasty."

I then walked into my cabin and shut the door. I don't care what it takes, I will give my Gweny the best birthday experience. I pag-ibig her and will crawl to the end of the world to make her happy. Happy Birthday babe, happy birthday.
