Now they are the COOL ones - absolute same meaning for me! - Coming to the conclusion of "being better" or not, is a matter of comparison. Maybe they're just all crazy. Or maybe it's just because they're young and don't understand. Or maybe it's because they're young and don't want to listen to "old" music. To awnser your tanong I think it's because the brothers are young and The Beatles are at least 40 to 50 years old now (not that that makes them bad!). I've heard The Jonas Brother's have been dubbed the 'new' Beatles which is totally inacurate because no one will ever come close to The Beatles. They just don't know good music when they hear it. The Jonas Brothers didn't last long at all what a pitty. The Beatles lasted a long time and forever they made history and the JB brothers didn't.

I personally think their little spoiled-ass bitches that think they need to like what's "cool" and not what's actually good. All the kids are trying to be 'cool' or 'popular'. I can see right through them. I think it's all complete bullshit. They just don't get it. What I don't get is why everyone is so caught up in being cool. That does not sound appealing to me at all.
