No, He became a lobo because he came to the pader of twilight and a dark hand grabbed him! It was a monster and it was going to kill him, until the triforce symbol on link's hand blinded the monster! then the monster threw link on the ground and link started screaming then he got turned into a lobo and the monster dragged him away to Zelda's kastilyo which was covered in darkness and the monster locked link in a prison cell. that's how link got turned into a lobo in twilight princess!

Well in Twilight Princess, Link is the decendent of Ocarina's of Time's Hero of Time Link (which techniclly makes him the same deal) so when twilight blankets Hyrule, Link is the Chosen Hero and takes on the form of a lobo instead of a sprit. YEAH
he entered the twilight ream the black beast was holding him on his neck but his trinforce shined and it trow him on the ground and it was shinning he turned into a wolf.
After the hand grabbed Link and as the Triforce shined and blinded the Shadow Beast a fragment of the twilight was embedded into Link's chest. Which cause his Twilight lobo form.
