In the episode "Conflict Resolution", Creed sprouts mung beans and eats them. Can you actually eat them uncooked?

"I sprout mung beans on a damp paper towel in my mesa drawer. Very nutritious, but they smell like death." Can you eat mung beans without cooking them or preparing them in any way? Basically, will they kill you?
