He knows it's the best he can do for Elena.: I would do the same, because every time MFG finds out about something important and they want to deal with it as a group, they fail. I also think his statement "I'd do anything to protect her" or something like that was kinda... weird, after he let her die. I mean, he will do everything to let her turn back into a human again, but didn't save her life earlier? And don't tell me he listened to her so that Matt could live. In the first episode, he basically told Matt he didn't deserve to live and was just saved because Elena wanted that. Again, not doing anything to protect her. Doesn't he think that she's been through enough?? I really, REALLY hope that she'll be back real soon and go straight after Klaus and Stefan...
