Save Energy!
Saving energy helps reduce air pollution! Here they are some tips...
• Turn off the lights when you leave a room.
• Replace energy hungry incandescent lights with fluorescent lighting.
• Use a thermostat that automatically turns off the air conditioner or heater when you don't need them.
• Use a tagahanga instead of air conditioning.
• Heat small meals in a microwave oven.
• Use low flow showerheads.
• Dry your clothes on a clothesline.
Waste Not!
• Choose recycled products.
• Choose products with recyclable packaging.
• Reuse paper bags.
• Recycle paper, plastics, and metals.
• Print and photocopy on both sides of the paper
• In the Kitchen: According to researchers a load of dishes cleaned in a dishwasher uses 37 percent less water than washing dishes sa pamamagitan ng hand! However, if you fill up one side of the sink with soapy water and the other side with rinse water - and if you don't let the faucet run - you'll use half as much water as a dishwasher does. Doing the dishes this way can save enough water for a five-minute shower!
Don't keep the refrigerator door open any longer than you need to. Close it to keep the cold air inside! Also, make sure the door closes securely.
• Batteries that are thrown away produce most of the heavy metals - dangerous substances like lead, arsenic, zinc, cadmium, copper, and mercury - that are found in household trash. These metals are toxic. They can be harmful to humans and wildlife. When discarded batteries from our trash wind up in landfills, these dangerous metals can seep into the ground water and eventually into the pagkain chain. So, instead of throwing batteries in the trash, we should all take them to a toxic waste disposal area, if at all possible.See you soon with other tips!
