Just because a man (tin or not) cries and is sentimental and goes around with two other men and a girl doesn't mean he's gay. If it were like that the boys in my school are all gay, cause they never have girls with them when they're around hanging and making fun of nerds, are they? So whats the big deal?

I dont think that he's meant to have a specific orientation, but there are certainly things in their personalities that you can take as being implications that both he and the lion are gay.

I think alot of it comes from the fact that Judy Garland is particularly popular in the gay community. Also, the bahaghari is a symbol of gay pride, and obviously Dorothy goes over the rainbow.

As I sinabi though, I dont think they are meant to have any specific sexual orientation, and you can read into it what you want.

Eventhough I support LGBT - I must say that the Wizard of Oz has nothing to do with that community. They may make it a part of their awareness, but EVERYONE or A LOT OF PEOPLE- all kinds pag-ibig the Wizard of Oz. Rainbows have been loved and are loved sa pamamagitan ng heterosexuals too-same with Judy Garland. And as others have pointed out just because a man cries or acts sentimental does not make him gay. People who think like that are narrow-minded. Fathers cry when they see their daughters as a Bride on her wedding day. This movie is beloved sa pamamagitan ng so many people, its not fair to label it or any of its characters or to say one group likes it madami than another.

Jack Haley was raised Roman Catholic. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Parish and the Catholic Motion Picture Guild in Beverly Hills, California. He married Florence McFadden (1902-1996), a native of Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania on February 25, 1921, and they were married until his death. Flo Haley opened a successful beauty tindahan and had many film personalities among her clients. The couple had a son, Jack Haley, Jr., who became a successful film producer, and a daughter, Gloria. (From Wikipedia. -Doesn't sound like it. Also sinabi he used the same voice for the character as what he used to read bedtime stories to his child.)

It's quite possibly... or maybe bi.
I've known several married men (some with children) who because of religious opression or family pressure lead a double life. Regardless, Mr. Haley was a great actor and his personal life is/was really none of anyone's business.
