Courtney's POV: I stood there, completely dumbfounded, mouth agape, at how my best friend in the world, just dissed me.

"Sorry I didn't tell you..." Was all she said.

"Aw, is Princess sad?" Duncan pursed his lips in a pout to irk me. It worked, and instead of letting it go like I normally would, I stepped and kicked as hard as I could, sending Duncan to the ground with a loud groan.

"Now shut up." I sinabi and turned to Tiannah. "Um, can you leave for a few hours? We really need to start this project."

"Hm?" Tiannah was playing with her long dyed hair, and she finally looked up. "Oh, sure." She smiled her famous black-and-green braced smile.

Black and green. I'm staring at a perversion of it on the floor in front of me, groveling.

Tia grabbed her backpack, and leaned in. "Here, good luck with them." She handed me a small bottle of mouthwash spray and her and Duncan's cell phone numbers on a piece of paper.

She closed the door behind her as she left, and I heard her motorcycle start up and drive away. I moaned and slid to the ground, my head in my hands.

Duncan picked his act up and the pain seemed to disappear. "So Princess, what do we do first?"

"You can get the hell out of my house, for starters." I spoke with an attitude.

He seethed. "I'm afraid I can't do that." He crawled near me, his breath warm on mine, how close he was to me. "I'm here risking your grades and mine, and we both know how much you like being a straight-A student."

He moved back to his original spot, and I blew several strands of loose brown hair out of my face. "Fine."

He grasped the shoulderstrap on my backpack and placed it on the ground between our legs, which we were four feet apart with.

I unzipped my backpack and pulled out two thick textbooks, placing one in front of my and one in front of Duncan, handing him a paper and a pen. "Find an may-akda or something to do the project on. We'll compare my choice and your choice, ok?" I sinabi sweetly and softly, like a tutor. Hehe, I could get used to this. Torturing Duncan with work, hurting his small brain with sophisticated words.

Immediately, he smirked and turned to the back of the book in the glossary and started searching pages. I did the same, skimming my finger along endless names. I took my paper and pen and wrote down a name, Duncan doing the same. I shut my book and took hold of my paper, Duncan mimicking every ilipat like a mirror.

"You're such a creep." I snorted.

"You're such a princess." He grimaced, and I laughed softly. "Who did you pick?" He jerked his head at the paper I held folded at my chest.

"Nancy Garden. You?"

"Darren Shan."

That name. Wow, how did I NOT guess? The Saga of Darren Shan, a novel series about vampires. Well, I'm already staring at a blood-sucking creature right here.

"OK fine." I opened the textbook to the glossary again to the 'S' section. "You might want to take notes." And he rolled his eyes.

I turned to the page the glossary lead to and started to read aloud, "Darren O'Shaughnessy, also known as Darren Shan, born on July 2nd, 1972 in London, England, is an adult book series author, who has past writings such as The City Trilogy, The Saga of Darren Shan, also known as Cirque du Freak in the USA, and The Demonata."

Surprisingly, Duncan WAS taking notes, oddly enough that he never does any sort of schoolwork whatsoever.

"M'kay." He finished writing, and I looked at his horrible handwriting.

"Um....maybe I should write this project?" I gazed indignantly at the sloppy penmanship from his hand.

He chuckled. "I was about to say the same thing."

I rolled my eyes. "Wow, you are so incredibly weird. You want to do a project on vampires?"

He shrugged. "Is their something wrong with that?"

"No."

Lie.

No it wasn't!

I HATE HIM!

Lie.

Duncan shrugged. "OK then." He began searching through the may-akda bio page, Pagsulat down something every now and then.

"Duncan, you really ARE a vampire." I joked.

He whistled. "If I told you what I was thinking you'd laugh."

I laughed, of course, like he said. "Duncan, please, I laugh at your face every day, it wouldn't be anything new."

"OK." He sighed. "Repeat what you sinabi before."

"I laugh at your face every day?"

"Before that."

"You're such a vampire?"

He nodded. "Aaaaaaaaand that is true."

I looked at him like "What the fuck, are you on crack you teaser?"

"What?"

"I sinabi it's true." He turned his blue eyes to me. "When I was born, something went horribly wrong with my genes, and I was born paler than snow. Everybody was freaking out, but when they did a screening of my stats, they sinabi there was nothing wrong other than me having a rare blood type."

I rolled my eyes.

Duncan's POV: My puso pounded like a drum; I couldn't believe I was doing this.

"You've heard the stories of vampires, them being afraid of garlic and pumpkins and sunlight, them being afraid of having a stake driven through their heart, them always wearing black and turning into bats, right?"

Courtney nodded.

"Well, it's all science fiction. Bampira take a long time to die. If a vampire had a stake driven through it's heart, it would die within a three oras period, since they have inhuman blood. They are unafraid of everything, and have amazing strength and running speed."

"O...k, can we get back to the project now?" Courtney was getting irritated. So, I scooted closer and put my hand on her leg.

"You don't believe me, do you?"

"Believe you on what?"

I opened my mouth, and Courtney's eyes went wide when she saw to sharp fangs slide their way down from behind two of my molars.

I closed my mouth and my teeth returned to normal. "It's only very slight, don't be afraid, it's a stupid asno disorder. It's not like I'm some blood-sucking creature."

"You....you...." She stuttered.

I took her soft hand and placed it on my neck, letting her feel my heartbeat.

"Human..." She sinabi softly, and I nodded.

"80-something percent human." I smiled.

Then, in a state of shock, Courtney sinabi nothing more, looked nowhere near me again, and returned to her textbook work, looking up madami facts about Darren Shan.

I sighed and leaned up against the window. I just let out my biggest secret in the world. Smooth move.
