Chapter 4
Something fishy
I had the perfect excuse to go back to the station, after my parents rash behavior I would need to have an apology at the ready. I mean, if you fight in the police station be glad you weren’t arrested.
I entered the police station, looking for anyone similar. I felt a tap on my shoulder and whirled around to find the boy I was looking for.
Cadence.
“Hello again, Destiny,” he said. “What brings you here?”
“I just wanted to apologize for my parents rude behavior.” I explained, trying to not get Nawawala in his deep blue eyes.
Cadence nodded, flashing me a dazzling smile. “Always noble I see, but we aren’t pressing charges, I’m surprised the broke after all this.”
“Excuse me?”
“Well,” Cadence paused, eyes scanning the room. “The police aren’t really doing a very good job of finding the killer.”
“Aren’t you a police man?” I asked.
Cadence grinned deviously, “nope, I’m a detective.”
“Don’t really see the difference,”
Cadence rolled his eyes. “I just moved here about a few years back, and just a taon nakaraan did these people let me in to work.”
“How old are you?” I asked.
“Eighteen, sweetheart, nineteen in a couple of months.”
I nod, “I’m seventeen.”
Cadence nodded again. “I know.”
“What do you mean you know, we just met earlier today.”
“I’ve been searching in the case ever since it happened, and there was a lot of files of you and your family.”
“What?” I asked, alarmed.
“Your family has a record, your parents were very naughty children, and your sister upset a lot of people.”
“And me?”
“Surprisingly, nothing, your spotless. A bit strange, but not surprising.”
“How?” I asked.
“You weren’t the one that pushed things too far,” he replied simply.
“Can I see the files?”
“Have to work at the station, and get permission from the chief, or we’ll both be in trouble.”
I nod, Cadence studies me. “You didn’t come here to apologize did you?”
“Yes, I did.” I lied.
“Your lying.”
“And you know that how?”
“Oh, I just know,” he says mysteriously.
I’m starting to get annoyed so I ask the tanong I’ve been dying to ask, before I chicken out. “Will you help me?”
“With you sister’s death?”
I nod, “it seems that everyone has ibingiay up on the case except me.”
“Of course I will,” he says. “But first…”
He takes my hand and leads me out the door, I am yet again stunned and do nothing as he maneuvers his way through our destination. After awhile we stop, and I look up, bewildered.
“Something’s fishy,” I said.
Literally.

“Something’s fishy,” I said.
Literally.
That if we believe in our souls
Then the doubt that we will fail
Will melt away
We must believe
There's no better time to do this
And we shall never give up
Because a helpless creature is dying
We shall help the creature
And if we come together and sing
All hope will become stronger and stronger
Like a candle building flame
We shall care for it
We shall be its shoulder to lean on
We shall never give up hope
If it dies, I die with it
It shall survive
If we give up all our hope
Nothing ever shall be alive again
The hope still blazes
Inside of each and every one of us,
And we believe that we will
Defeat our obstacle
There will be nothing to fight us
After we look inside ourselves
And find our strength
I have a dream,
That my little amazing creature
Will survive and get a new leg
It shall not die.
Today's the day
We ipakita all our strength
Tonight's the night...
No one's ever gonna keep me down
Again...
And I'm gonna go on,
And on.
Tonight's the night
We're gonna be determined
Have hope in our eyes
You can see it inside
As we rev it across tonight
Tonight's the night
Tonight I'm gonna give it my best shot
And no one's gonna control me
Not tonight,
Oh not now,
And maybe not ever again.
Cause I have the feeling
That I'm powerful
That I'm givin it my all
And it's gonna be a shocker
When I power the stage tonight
Tonight's the night
And no one's gonna shove me down again,
Cuz tonight's my night.
