Hey,
Here are just a few interesting things I picked up from the books- some of it may sound familiar but there are some new stuff that I hadnt read before I researched this- enjoy :)

Name analysis:
Isabella - Most of us know that this mean beautiful in Italian which, along with her surname Swan, makes beautiful swan. This has connotations of the Ugly sisiw ng pato story in which the “ugly duck” who was unimportant and ignored because the most beautiful and most important of all

Jacob - His name makes “Supplanter” which when defined brings up the definition- “one who wrongfully takes the place of another” which is a great paglalarawan of what Jacob tries to do- take the place of Edward in Bella’s life.

Alice - I thought this was very interesting, Alice came from a nun called Alice who experienced visions and ecstasies. And we all know Alice’s power is seeing the future through visions.

Emmett - Means energetic and powerful in old German

Cullen - The name Cullen means attractive- very fitting for the Cullen family

Esme - Means beloved in old French

Seth - Means appointed and he was the 3rd son of Adam and Eve. Seth is appointed segundo in command in Jacobs pack and if Edward and Bella are Adam and Eve, it is very fitting as Seth becomes close to them in BD.

Leah - Means weary, and she is quite weary about her life as a werewolf

Cover and pamagat analysis:
(for figurative purposes, Edward is the moon- cold and lives a life of darkness, and Jacob is the sun- warm and bright)

TWILIGHT
Title- Twilight refers to the time of araw when the moon is coming up and this is the book where Edward is coming into Bella’s life

Cover- The mansanas refers to the forbidden fruit, which Bella and Edward are to each other. As well as the mansanas Snow White bit into leaving her trapped between life and death- much like what a vampire is.


NEW MOON
Title- In astronomy, the new moon is when the sun is on the opposite side of the moon from us, creating the darkest night. This is symbolic of Bella’s experiences in New Moon- the darkest period of her life. Also the moon looks like it is missing from the sky during a new moon and, Edward being the moon, is missing from most of the story as well as from Bella’s life.

Cover- Tulips are believed to represent perfect pag-ibig so the wilting petal could represent Bella’s perfect pag-ibig (and Edward) drifting away from her.


ECLIPSE
Title- During a solar eclipse, the moon blocks out the sun almost entirely, turning the sky to darkness and we know that this is the book that brings Edward and Jacob head to head

Cover- The cover shows a torn ribbon. This could have several meanings. It represents Bella and her unwillingness to give up her human life. The ribbon also could represent Bella herself- the bigger part being “Edwards Bella” and the smaller part being “Jacobs Bella”- and the choice that she has to make between who she should be- a choice that nearly tears her apart.


BREAKING DAWN
Title- Breaking dawn is when the sun is rising. This represents the “sun rising” in Bella’s new life- the dawn is breaking in her new vampire life. It could also represent light coming into Bella’s life- i.e. Renesmee

Cover- The Pawn which is red reflects Bella in her human life- the weakest player, filled with blood and of no particular value. The white reyna shows her transformation to the most important, strong player of all. The white represents her new vampire self. The chess board represents and foreshadows the confrontation at the end which is solved with strategic moves rather thatn fighting- much like chess.


EXTRAS
This is just a wee extra part from Breaking Dawn-
Alice tore a page from Bella’s book- The Merchant of Venice. This foreshadows the end of Breaking Dawn as it is somewhat similar: bloodshed appears inevitable, doom approaches, and then the power is reversed and the game is won sa pamamagitan ng some clever verbal strategies; no blood is shed, and the romantic pairings all have a happily ever after. Just like in Merchant of Venice. Cool I thought.
