Daniel sat in his apartment in the pitch black dark. He hadn’t even bothered to turn any lights on. He couldn’t face the light; or rather he didn’t want to. All he could think about was his father and his ‘son’ and even if he didn’t know for sure that Daniel was his son he knew...

Amanda: I think I'm gonna pass.
Marc: You're not passing. I'm not going to stag, hag.
Amanda: You'll have to buy your own beer, queer.
Marc: You can't just ditch, bi-

Amanda: Who cares about carbs when you're from Queens, right?

Amanda: Keep working- a little madami overtime and you can switch to invisalines.

When watching Ugly Betty- or be it any other ipakita or movie, the narrative is one of the essential elements in understanding the story, in addition to which it forms the sequencing and ordering of events, as and when they happen.

The concept of narrative structure enables the likes of you and I to understand the message, ideas and situations taking place within the film or ipakita through the ordering of those events occuring on screen. Alas, this is where meaning is also achieved. Although narrative structure and theory is not neccessarily based around semiotics- which I have touched upon during...
