Kaname is the real ancestor, the first vampire. All Bampira (ancestors) came from human parents. So Rido awoke Kaname, fed him the real baby, and Kaname turned himself into a child in order to control his hunger! Sorry, kinda a lot to explain, just read Vampire Knight Chapter 62-63, they are Kaname's memories!! :)
