“I don’t know Katie”, I kept saying.
“Come on Amy” she replied.
It was one of those days when new transfer students come to our school here in Ohio. Katie, my best friend, was trying to convince me to speak to Andrew, one of the transfer students, and welcome him to our school, but there was some thing about him that was out of place. He seemed different from everyone else. Andrew had shiny, black hair that was as dark as the night sky and he was well-fit with muscles that belonged to a gym teacher, but the way he dressed was what surprised me the most because he was wearing a white, long sleeve, button-up sando and dark colored jeans, which no one here would ever wear here.
“I’m not sure if I should do it” I said.
“What? Why not?” she sinabi and started to pout.
“I don’t know…..Some thing just doesn’t seem right about him” I said.
She laughed at that and said, “Girl look at him. He is HOT!!! and some one that hot is not going to be out on the market for long.” Katie was right he was hot but that was not enough to convince me to go over there and talk to him, only a crazy person would go over there and I was clearly not crazy.
“Sure he’s hot but who would actually go over there and talk to him?” I asked her.
“Uh, Hun I would and I will right now” she said.
“No, don’t do it Katie!” as I sinabi this I pulled her arm and tried to pull her back but instead of pulling her away from Andrew I ended up being dragged along with her. As we both approached Andrew he turned toward us and he seemed to look a bit coy but that all disappeared into thin air when we got there.
He stood motionless leaning against the locker, looking at us up and down, like he was looking at an item that he was about to purchase at a store. We didn’t look like we were at a market with pananda pinned on us did we? Whatever he was looking for I couldn’t stand it so I started to tug on Katie’s sleeve.
Finally she said, “What Amy?” and I simply said, “Can we go now?” But she clearly wasn’t done with what she came here to do so she just ignored me and said, “Hey your Andrew right?”
“Why yes I am” he sinabi but it was weird because once I heard his voice I had to look at him. To my surprise he was looking at me with curiosity and a bit of passion, what was weirder was that right when I looked at him I couldn’t seem to look away and that scared me. As I stood there watching him I realized that he was different, he had strange eyes that were yellow but not quite and no one could be as hot as he was, at least not outside of a modeling place and his voice was a sound that no one would ever forget, it sounded like a soft violin playing a pag-ibig song. But all that disappeared when a voice broke the silence and I had no choice but to focus on reality again.
“Amy, Amy. AMY!!!!! HELLO!!!!!!” Katie started to say.
Then I snapped out of it. “Huh?” I sinabi feeling like an idiot. “I said, Do you want to ipakita Andrew around or should I?” I looked back and forth from Katie to Andrew trying to gather my thoughts and finally I said, “Ummm, I’ll do it.” With that sinabi she turned around and said, “Whatever!” and then she hollered, “Just don’t be late for class.”
Then when she was out of hearing range I said, “Thank god!!!” while bending over to put my head between my legs and leaning against a locker for support.
Then a moment later I was startled when a voice answered back and said, “I know, she was getting annoying!!!” Then he said, “Your name is Amy right?"
