It was five o’ clock in the afternoon and I was listening, singing, and dancing to music. It was at that moment that my parents came into my room.

“Yuko, I am afraid we have some bad news,” she sinabi in a sad tone of voice.

So I stopped what I was doing and listened. My parents sat down with me.

“Yuko, I know that you like it here in Hapon and so do we. But I am afraid we have to ilipat somewhere else.”

My stomach sank and my puso broke. I have started to cry. I was devastated.

“B-But we can’t move. What about my friends?”

“I’m sorry, Yuko, but we can’t afford to continue living here. So we have decide to ilipat to Pennsylvania.”

My sister, Mimi, was standing at the door.

“When are we leaving?” she asked.

“In a week,” I started crying even more.

The susunod araw we started packing. I haven’t stopped sobbing for a minuto of every araw that passed packing our belongings and leaving. But before we left for the airport, me and my family sinabi our good-byes for those who know us. I put on my dyaket as soon as we entered the airport because I started feeling a cool breeze.

Unfortunately, it was time to get on the plane. As soon as I got on the plane my sister told me to sit susunod to her, so I did. We started talking about how much we would miss home. When we stopped talking, I immediately went to sleep. When I got up it was almost time to land.

After we got out the plane we went to get our stuff. And I have noticed that the airport was just as chilly as the one back home. As soon as we got our stuff we called a cab. We got to our new tahanan in twenty-five minutes.

When we got inside we looked around and noticed that it wasn’t much different than our old home. At least my room was a little bigger than my old one. But it had an awful smell of rotten fish. So I started cleaning it. After I finished I asked my dad if we can go and buy some paint because the walls of my room were torn apart. So we went and got kulay-rosas paint for me and purple paint for my sister.

After I painted my room I unpacked my bags. After we all finished with our stuff we explored the neighborhood and bought some food. I was surprised that they had pagkain that we liked. When we got tahanan we ate because we were starving.

The susunod araw my parents assigned me and my sister in a new school. A few minutos have passed and I needed to use the bathroom.

“Mom, I need to use the bathroom,” and my mom asked the lady where the bathroom was and followed her.

But before we got there I saw a boy with cute black hair and beautiful golden brown eyes that restored my heart’s shape.

“Go inside and hurry up.”

When I went inside I bumped into a girl.

“I apologize.”

“No that’s okay, it was an accident. Hey, I’ve never seen you around, what’s your name?”

“My name is Yuko.”

“My name is Annie but everybody calls me Michelle.”

“Pleased to meet you Michelle.”

“Well, I have to go, see you around Yuko.” And she left.

When my parents were done we went home. The susunod day, Mimi and I went to school. And I saw that boy I saw the araw before.

He came running towards me. He was panting.

“Can you hide me?” he asked. I nodded. When a teacher came to me she asked “Have you seen a boy running around?” I shook my head. And she kept on searching.

“Thanks. uy for any chance is your name Yuko?” I nodded and smiled because he knew my name. “Michelle told me all about you. Want to meet up at lunch?”

“Okay.”

“Cool. Oh, got to run, bye.” And a teacher came running after him.
So we met at lunch and Michelle joined us.

“Hey Yuko. Oh I forgot to tell you my name, my name is Danny.”

“Hi Danny.” And we talked about a lot of things and we got to know each other better. I couldn’t take my eyes off him.

After school we sinabi our good-byes and went our separate ways. I noticed that Mimi didn’t pick me up from school. Well, I knew how to get tahanan sa pamamagitan ng myself. But at that moment, I bumped into a girl that was a lot bigger than I was.

“I’m so sorry.” I sinabi nervously.

“Watch where your going!” and she pushed me on the ground.

She started yelling at me and punched me in the eye.

“And it better not happen again!”

When I got home. My parents were shocked.

“What happened?” they asked. And I explained what happened.

“Weren’t you with Mimi?” My father asked. I shook my head.

A few minutos later, Mimi came home.

“Why didn’t you come tahanan with your sister?” My father sinabi with anger.

“I was invited to read a few chapters after school and I kind of forgot to tell Yuko.”

“So you forgot to come tahanan with your sister?”

“I’m sorry it just slipped my mind. It wont happen again.” She was grounded.

The susunod araw we went to the school and I described the girl that punched me.

“Abbigail Jones come down to the main office.” The principal sinabi on the microphone. She was suspended for a week and couldn’t come back until her parents came to see her. It seems that right after she started to like this place she went right back to hating it.

Later that araw we went to the doctor’s office to get my eyes checked out. The doctor sinabi that I have to put an ice pack on my eye twice a araw for a week and come back to see if it got better.

“Go to your room and rest for a while” my mom sinabi with sadness on her face when we got home. When I woke up my mom sinabi that she had good news for me.

“Good news Yuko, to make your days here better, I have decided to take you to the Spring Festival this week.”

I pretended to be happy. But I honestly didn’t think that the festival will make me feel better.

The susunod araw when I went to school I saw Michelle, and when she saw me, her smile turned into a frown and came running towards me.

“What happened to you? Who did this to you?” So I told her that Abbigail Jones did it. “That bully, every time there is a new kid she has to always pick on them.”

The same thing happened when I ran into Danny later that day.

It came to Thursday, the araw of the festival. When I got there it looked like a lot of fun. Maybe this will cheer me up. It was very coincidental to meet up with Michelle and Danny. We played a lot of games and had a lot of fun. There was even a clown, and he made a balloon paruparo for me. Then Danny came to me.

“Yuko, will you like to ride the mary go round with me?”

“Sure.” That was the happiest araw of my life.
