Movie Reviews
I don’t know if this qualifies as fortunate or unfortunate, with me making this. If you don't agree, that's just fine. Please leave a comment in the section below, and be semi-polite about it. I am very aware that my opinions may not be the same as yours, but I do expect you to respect mine as I will respect yours. Thank you.

“X-men”- This movie had it all. It had comedy in the form of character interaction. You have the actions/comments that Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and Cyclops (James Marsden) make toward each other. One of my favorites is when Wolverine finally gets his X-men get-up, and asks them how they ilipat in it. Cyclops ang sumagot with, “What would you prefer? Yellow spandex?” Obviously a dig, maybe good, maybe bad, on the comic book Wolverine costume that he wore ever so proud. Director Bryan Singer even sinabi that they would have loved to have used the original costumes, but a bunch of adults walking around in almost neon colored spandex fighting against others in neon colored spandex would have ibingiay the wrong impression. Needless to say, with or without the original costumes, this movie provided a good laugh, but for the comic geeks, it may have really created some itches with how some of the interactions and characters turned out. It didn’t overload on the special effects to where you felt completely fake just watching. In fact, you left the movie feeling like you wanted to kick some evil mutant butt, though the logical part of your brain screamed that it was impossible and irrational. It was, personally, the best out of the three.

“X2- X-men United”- Once again it provided a good plot to watch. Unfortunately, I wanted to break the disc when I looked at it and saw X-men printed on it. It didn’t follow the original plots almost at all, and bringing phoenix in the way they did made me want to scream. The loss of Jean (Famke Janssen) and how the characters reacted was great. The introduction to Night crawler (Alan Cumming) was a nice sight to see. Lady Deathstrike (Kelly Hu) also making an entrance and the fight with Wolverine was nicely panned out. I would have liked to have seen a little bit of memory jogging as to who she was in the comics to him, but it didn’t happen. Like I said, it was a nice story to watch unfold, but it didn’t have the feel of something an X-men movie should have had. I did enjoy how they included the shot of the computer screen in the scene where Mystique (Rebecca Romijn-Stamos) is downloading critical files, and the comic geeks could spot some names of other characters in the X-men. I’m not going to name any specifics. You see who you can spot.

“X-men- The Last Stand”- I have one word that is 13 letters long and is a synonym for unsatisfactory and also describes what this movie was to me. That’s right. Disappointing. I was saddened when they had Jean Kill off Scott. Then I was really sad when they had her kill Charles (Patrick Stewart). But ultimately, I think it was the boring plot, bad take on a great original set of characters and conflict, and poor wrap-up that made me hate it. They made it look like to the world that Jean had no choice in what she was doing and that she was going insane. That’s what I and everyone else I know thought was going on, but it wasn’t until I looked at the credits that I realized it was supposed to be (a VERY awful) recreation of the Dark Phoenix Saga. She wasn’t even credited as Dark Phoenix as she should have been, because everyone knows that the Dark Phoenix was the evil one. No, she was credited as Phoenix, who is actually kind-hearted and seeks to protect human kind. It is Dark Phoenix that makes Jean evil. They could have at least done their research. The closing scenes of the movie were also disappointing. They closed it all up with the gravestones of the main three founding X-men, and finally the last shots were of Magneto (Ian McKellen) moving a chess piece ever so slightly with his mind. Obviously using his powers that should have been gone due to the injection of the medication meant to suppress mutant powers. This means that everyone else that got the injection should have theirs wear off faster, considering Magneto got over 5 times what would have been necessary. He got a magazine of the antidote in the chest. That opened it up for another X-men movie. I not only hoped for that, but that it may have been better. My hopes were shattered when it has now been 5 years and there is none in the makes. Poor, poor me. L

“X-men Origins: Wolverine”- This one I had hopes that it would follow the original biography that shadowed the Wolverine so many people hold dear. (I am not one of these). No such luck. First off, they included Gambit, Cyclops, Emma Frost, and a few others. Where did they come from?! He wasn’t supposed to meet Cyclops until he joined the X-men for the first time, and Frost and Gambit come in even later than that. I was very disappointed in the direction that the story took. It was almost like they killed everyone off so they wouldn’t have to make another movie that included them. They did the same thing in “X-men: The Last Stand”. I always like a good comedy relief part to a movie, and I succeeded with that in the first two movies. This one, the only funny part was when Wolverine is fighting Blob and says, “He’s got his whole asno coming out the front of his shirt.” Pop came out my nose at this time, because I know many a people who would have been saying the same thing. Nonetheless it seemed like a flat, almost boring-to-sleep storyline, that kept you awake using upbeat musical scores. They could have done a MUCH better job keeping to the old Wolverine, but they didn’t. I was very disappointed in myself for wasting the 20 dollars the movie cost me.
