X-Men X-Man of the Week [CONTEST POSTPONED INDEFINITELY]

Welcome to the new X-man of the Week. This is very similar to the 'Mutant of the Week' run from long ago. However, we are starting over from scratch with everyone available for selection.

Each week there will be a new poll posted, with roughly seven to ten characters selected all pertaining to the category of choice. The characters do not need to be official X-men, closely associated is enough. This includes family members, clones, villains, and members of splinter teams. The same day the new poll is posted, the old one will close, the winner will be posted and that character's week begins. That week, in turn, is dedicated to that character. This DOES NOT mean that other characters can't be posted. It's just in the hope that each character will slowly get some form of recognition.

If you're not interested, you needn't participate. This is purely for fun.

This forum is dedicated to this "contest", so to speak. This is to discuss the characters who are the X-man of the week, discuss "X-man of the Week" itself, and anything else that comes to mind.

If the voting for the X-man of the Week ends with a tie, I will first take my vote away so it doesn't count and hopefully breaks the tie. If it doesn't, well, random choice generators were created for a reason.

I would like to ask for ideas for categories. The obvious choices are teams, debut years, hair colors, eye colors, etc., but I would like some other ideas if you come up with them.

In honor of it being Cyclops week, here are some questions to answer.

Which decade did you guy's best like Cyclops in (if you like him at all)? Is there a specific story-line that really stuck out to you?

Which of his many love interests did you like him best with? Least like him with? Is there anyone whom you think he would be great with with whom he hasn't yet appeared?

Do you think Cyclops was right?

Which of his costumes did you like the best?

Is Cyclops your favorite of the Summers clan?

I don't think there was ever a specific decade in which I liked him more or less. Stories in which I really liked him specifically are hard to come by. However, I thought my least favorite stories involving him were three : everything involving him and Maddy after Jean was resurrected, how he treated Jean after his possession by Apocalypse, and how he treated everyone after Schism until his death (he had his moments, but for the most part, the writers did a good job of making him an unlikable dickturd).

Many love interests is right!! Though I do like some of his interactions with Emma, and I like both characters individually, I think he was best with Jean.

In some ways, I do believe Cyclops is right, and though I don't always agree with the methods he took, I cannot think of a better way to have handled it in which would have accomplished anything.

My favorite of the Summers boys fluctuates, but right now, I think Cable is my favorite, not Cyclops.

Yes, I believe Cyclops makes a great leader AND teacher (they're very similar roles).

I can't say which portrays him the best because I have really only read the mainstream universe. I tried the Ultimate comics, but didn't enjoy them. I think, strangely enough, X-men Evolution did a good job of portraying Scott. It was a different take on the X-men, and it worked well. Wolverine and the X-men was too short lived and focused a lot of energy on making Cyclops a whiny crybaby. The original 90's cartoon seemed to focus a lot of ITS energy on making him the bad guy compared to Wolverine, a common practice. Yes, I liked James Marsden, and yes, I wish he would have appeared more, but I also think it's a good thing he didn't. The writers would have probably used that time to slam him some more. I didn't like the guy who played him in the Origins movie.

I'm very sorry for not posting anything for Domino. It was a very busy week in my personal life, and I completely forgot.

That said, better late than never, here are some questions about Domino.

Domino isn't usually at the forefront of the X-titles. Is she someone you would like to see more of?

If she were to be played in a film, is there anyone you would think of to do a good job? Or if she were to be in a cartoon, a voice actor?

Would you like to see her in a Deadpool movie, or X-Force movie?

Are there any love interests for Domino you think she would be best with?

Is she one of your favorite Women of X and why?

What are your thoughts on her being afraid of chickens?

If you had her powers, what would you do with them, if anything?

Welcome back all of you lovely faces to "X-Man of the Week"! I'm happy to say that this is starting up again and hopefully will be for the remainder of my time on Fanpop. Once again, I apologize for the extended hiatus.

However, now that it is started up again, I have decided that I will not be including the characters that were previously used (see above : Weeks 1 - 7) as there are so few of them and many, many other characters never got a chance. As before, I would love to take suggestions for categories to do every week. Doing the same style each week will get boring (eye color, hair color, power set, debut year, teams, etc.), so if you have anything interesting or fun, please let me know in a comment, reply, or message.

This week marks a long awaited week 8 in our "X-Man of the Week" segment. This being the first week back, I went with something rather basic and just chose some of the more popular names in X. I gave the usual eight choices, rather than just five like I did previously for an "Add Your Own" week, but left it open for you to add your own as well if you would like something different.

Also helpful in choosing popular characters, the image uploader was disabled at the time this poll was posted. Bummer, but not entirely handicapping.

Hello fellow X-fans. Week 10 of 'X-Man of the Week' : Generation X members is now CLOSED. Our winner was Jubilation Lee / Jubilee. There was a tie between Jubilee and Chamber, and Jubilee was ultimately declared the winner. Congratulations to Jubilee!

If anyone is still paying attention to this contest, they would have noticed that I was absent for the full of last week. I do apologize for that. I had a few minor health problems to attend to. By the time I was feeling up to checking Fanpop, it was Friday, and was better off just waiting until Sunday to post the new poll.

Since voting is at an all time low, I've decided to re-open the seven previous winners to the voting. Sorry to anyone who sees this as unfair.

Again, as I mentioned last week and just to make it clear, I have retracted my original statement that the seven previous contenders are no longer available. The first seven winners (Cyclops, Domino, Archangel, Jubilee, Mystique, Rogue, and Magma) are ALL available for consideration again. This decision was made due to low voting rates. So, now Cyclops, Archangel, Mystique, Rogue, and Magma can find themselves in polls again in the future.

Week 12's poll is now OPEN. The category was Hair Colors of the Rainbow (ROYGBIV).

I am NOT restricting this category to hair colors that occurred naturally, otherwise it would have been impossible to find a few character for each color for the random picker to choose from. Any character that is predominantly known for one of the seven colors was fair game. Also, my distinction between red and orange was really nothing. Orange was to be a redhead whose hair has appeared more orange than red on the page. Yellow was defined as blond for the purposes of this poll. The distinction between blue, indigo, and violet was blue was to be a light shade of blue, indigo a dark shade, and violet was any shade of purple. Again, for my own convenience (I'm feeling selfish this week).

Each candidate has to have shown at one time or another some sort of telepathic power, whether it is straight telepathy or an affiliated power involving the influence of minds. Whether or not they were depowered doesn't matter, but they had to be in possession of the power for a significant enough amount of time that it is a large part of their character. Despite the incredibly high number of candidates possible for this list, it was narrowed down to seven for this week, so expect this category to make a resurgence in the future.

I'm very sorry to announce that this run of "X-Man of the Week" has come to an end. After deliberating for a long few months about the idea, I've decided since to end "X-Man of the Week". This is due to a combination of factors, such as lack of participation and personal time.

I appreciate everyone who has cast a vote on this contest at one time or another. I hope no one is disappointed by the turn of events, but given the energy of the site as a whole, I can expect that this doesn't come as too much of a surprise. I'm not planning anything similar or a re-launch of the contest in any span of the future, but I'm not ruling out the possibility for someday.
