"Again!" I ordered Niclas.
He groaned and completed an Earthbending move, but nothing happened.
I shook my head. "Why isn't any Earth coming?"
He shrugged. "I don't know!"
I sighed, then thought for a moment. "Try a Waterbending move."
He rolled his eyes, then completed a Water move.
"If you could do Water, why not the rest?" I pondered.
"Because I'm not the Avatar?" he sinabi through gritted teeth.
I waved him off. "Maybe it's too early..." I looked at him again. "Okay, I'll ipakita you all the moves. Do exactly what I do."
He nodded, then followed. It took nearly an oras for him to learn them, but eventually he got them right. But there was one problem:
No elements were coming.
"Again!" I panted, determined.
He slumped his shoulders, then completed the move. It drove me crazy, watching him like this.
"No, it goes like this!" I corrected his position, and he groaned again.
"Gah!" I moaned. "I've had enough of this. You'll never be as good as Jenny!" I stormed out of the room in fury.
I sat on the ledge of the mountain, where Robin and I had first explained our feelings for each other. The sun was setting, and my eyes were getting droopy.
"One month," I muttered. "One buwan and he STILL didn't get it right." I put my head in my hands and watched the sun set.
I heard footsteps behind me, and Niclas sat down beside me. His blonde hair was ruffled on his head.
I sighed. "I'm sorry for yelling at you. These things are just so frustrating!"
He looked at me through blue eyes. I wondered if Robin had pretty blue eyes. "Erica, I've been trying to tell you all this time, I'm--"
"Not the Avatar?" I finished.
He nodded. "If you knew, why did you train me?"
I shrugged. "I needed to fill the emptiness from inside me. When..." I struggled to say her name. "...Jeannette died, I needed someone to train, so I could remember her better. She's like a sister to me," I added.
He bit his lip. "Well, I'd like to stay here, but I need to go back home. I... kinda lied about the parents thing."
"But that means we kidnapped you!" I shrieked.
"No," he soothed. "I take care of my grandparents, but they let me come here. I'm worried about them."
I chuckled. "Ohhhh, well, I'll have Megan send you home."
"Thanks." He got up and walked back inside.
"And here comes the rebound... Wally West is just two inches away..." Wally was about to dunk the soft ball in the trash can when Artemis knocked it out of his hand.
"Oops," she sinabi sarcastically.
His face turned red. "Foul! Referee count that!"
I rolled my eyes, about to give him a sensitivity lesson when the alarm rang. The team ran to the Mission Room, and I tagged along.
Batman was looking at the computer, his fingers tapping on the keyboard. I had never seen him anxious before.
"Team, there's been sightings of mud shapeshifting into a man, and we all know that it's Clayface." His gaze switched to every member of the team, then to me. "Erica, we need you to come along. Robin is out for today, and the team needs all the help it could get."
"Hurtful!" KF said.
"How can I help?" I asked. "I've got no superpowers... he'll kill me on the spot!"
"I already installed weapons into your costume," he sinabi calmly. A pod came out of the pader and opened. Inside was a costume similar to the Nightfury's.
I took it out. "This is mine?"
He nodded. "Hurry and change. This is important."
I raced to the showers and quickly changed, anxiety creeping up on my spine.
