Kid Flash knelt beside the guard, feeling for his pulse. His green eyes squinted towards each other as he tried hiding his fear.
I put my hand on his shoulder. "We'll help him later, Wally. Scarecrow can't be too far now."
He nodded. "Right."
Once again, we ran back out the steps, where Arkham security was posted at every gate. Each guard had a riple in his hands, and when one of them pointed it at us, I raised my hands.
"Hold your fire!" I yelled, fearless. KF stood behind me, cowering. "Did you see him run out?"
"Oh, he saw me all right," sinabi a voice behind me.
I spun around. To any normal person, Scarecrow only looked like a pile of straw. But with his fear toxin in your blood, he would look like a terrifying monster.
Or so I've heard.
KF yelled in fear, ducking behind me with his hands over his head. Scarecrow pulled out a needle, and from here I could see the orange-ish toxin floating around inside it. He lunged at me, but I jumped away from him, pulling Kid Flash with me.
Scarecrow cackled eerily. "A human saving a SUPERHERO? That's something you don't see everyday!"
"Shut up!" KF and I yelled in unison. I got a Batarang from my sinturon and flung it at him, but he simply sided away.
He jumped at me once more, and this time he got me. The needle was a few centimeters away from my face--even without the toxin I was fearful. I kicked him in the stomach, sending him flying backwards. Before I could recover, he ran towards Kid Flash and raised the needle.
"NO!" I screamed, getting up.
I was too late. The needle was inside his arm, and the toxin must have spread through his upper body already. Scarecrow heaved with laughter at Wally's screams of fear.
"You MONSTER!" I screamed, running to him, but he put up a hand to stop me.
"Choose, Nightfury." I cringed at the name. "It's either me or him. There's enough toxin in there to make his puso speed out."
It was obvious to him as to what I would choose. I heaved Wally over my shoulders, and glared at the professor of fear.
"Someday, Crane, I'm coming for you. I swear it."
He smiled. "Then we both must prepare for that day." And with a tip of his hat, a ulap of gas emerged from the spot he was standing on. He was gone.
"You let him get away!" sinabi a guard as he ran up to us.
"It's not worth losing a teammate for a lowlife like him," I snapped, and he quieted down immediately. "The best thing you could do is alert the police and get hot on his trail."
And with that, I set off for the bioship, which we parked at least three miles away.
