Silver Wings part III
10 agonizing minutos later, the bioship landed in a hanger. I sat in one of the seats of the ship, my foot tapping obsessively. Soaked. Exhausted. Nervous as Hell. It wasn't everyday you got rescued (Kidnapped?) sa pamamagitan ng the Boy Wonder and his crew and brought to a secret hideout to meet the glorious Dark Knight.
Not that it would matter much. If they discovered how I had gotten the Weapon, how I had snuck into one of the world's most secure facilities and stolen the most powerful weapon ever created, I wouldn't likely see the sun rise. Damian would have killed me if he was here.
I turned my head slightly when I felt eyes on me. Boy Wonder automatically looked away, gazing ahead out the window. It wasn't the first time I had caught one of the teenagers staring at me. This was probably a new thing for them to, abducting kids off roofs at one in the morning. It was a relief when the ship finally landed and the back door slid open.
Miss Martian got off first (floated off actually), Kid Flash sped ahead, and Aqualad and Delta followed. Robin waited for me to exit before he did.
"Bats waiting in the training room," Robin said, leading us down a hallway. The corridor opened up to a large room with a simulation deck in the middle. I couldn't hep but stare at the assortment of heros waiting in the room. I could easily name every one of them: Black Canary, Green Arrow, Flash, Martian Manhunter, Superman, Red Tornado, and, clad in black, Batman. I suddenly felt very threatened, like a small kitten surrounded sa pamamagitan ng big, tough looking dogs. Or hungry wolves.
"You have something we need," Batman said. That was it. No, "Hi Silver, hows it going? Sorry for abducting you and taking you to our secret HQ in God-only-knows-where. Would you like a warm towel, cup of tea, or an explanation." Fine, two could play at that game.
"What would that be?" I asked curtly, crossing my arms. The Dark Knight glared at me through his cowl. I didn't dare back down, glaring right back. The silence was broken sa pamamagitan ng a droning voice reporting a new arrival. "Recognizing: Red Arrow, B09."
"Seriously, what could be so important that you had to call me in at one in the morning?" Speedy, Red palaso now, I remembered, came through one of the zeta tubes, looking quite peeved. He came to stand with the other older heros. His eyebrows rose up from under his mask when his eyes rested on me.
"The Weapon," Batman said. I wasn't sure if he was answering Red Arrow's tanong or mine.
"Oh really," I said, "you want the Weapon? So does every other power crazed scientist, millionaire, and psycho in the world. Get in line." Now it was REALLY quiet. Great, I had gone waaaay to far. My brother was right. My big mouth was gonna get me killed one day. This may have been the day.
The silence was broken sa pamamagitan ng an outburst of laughter. Every head in the room turned to look at a blonde boy who had just come into the room from a hallway across the training room. Leading them was a red head I did not recognize. It wasn't until he sped over to Robin in a blur that I realized this was Kid Flash dressed in civvies. The blonde boy had his arm around a green garbed archer, a quiver over her shoulder. Two other girls and another boy followed them. This team seemed to be much larger than I had suspected.
The boy's laughter cut off when the archer elbowed him in the stomach.
"Gravity Boy," Batman said, "would you like to share what is so funny?"
"Sorry, sir," Gravity Boy said, clearing the laughter from his voice. "It's just that, you sent them on a mission to get a weapon that had already been retrieved? And instead they brought you a girl." A few of the heros, including Flash, laughed quietly.
"The tracking coordinates we were ibingiay led us right to her," Robin sinabi defensively, sounding hurt. "She was there, surrounded sa pamamagitan ng dudes with guns, so we brought her here."
"Under, Batman's orders, of course," Aqualad added. Now all eyes were on Batman.
"Is this true?" Black Canary asked. "You ordered them to bring her here?"
"Look," I said, sick of everyone talking about me like I wasn't in the room, "my brother works for CADMUS, OK. He was working on the Weapon, secretly. I found out about it two hours ago. When he didn't go tahanan last night, I went to his office and the place was trashed, so I-"
"So you broke into the world's most secure government facility, estola the Weapon, and then ran through Gotham City while being chased sa pamamagitan ng an entire squadron of highly trained heavily armed guards," Flash finished for me. I nodded, stuffing my hands in my pockets, and looked at the ground. I expected them to take the Weapon from me and throw me back into the rain like an unwanted puppy. Or maybe they would turn me into the authorities to be arrested for trespassing, breaking and entering, and theft. It wouldn't be the first time.
No one sinabi a single word, though I could feel their eyes on me. I wished they would get it over with. I'd never felt so alone before. Here I was, surrounded sa pamamagitan ng complete strangers, all of whom could probably kill me with barely a glance. I kept seeing my older brother, warning about the dangers of the world, about dangerous criminals and terrifying villains. He never warned me that the most dangerous criminal could be yourself. All that time trying to protect me, making sure I went to school and had a warm kama to crawl into every night, wasted. I was my own destruction.
It was one of the younger girls that had come in recently who broke my thoughts. "Aren't your parents looking for you?" she asked. I shook my head, not trusting my voice.
"Is anyone looking for you?" Canary asked. She sounded like she already knew the answer. I forced myself to shake my head again.
"And the Weapon?" Batman asked. He didn't sound fazed at all. I slipped off my pack and dropped to me knee, searching through my extra daggers, Disabler, disposable cell phone, and wire-cutters for the black box that contained the Weapon. It wasn't any larger than a CD, the same circular shape, 2 inches thick, and icy-cold to the touch. Zipping my pack and slinging it over my shoulder, I held it out to Robin. "I don't really need it," I confessed. "I don't even know how it works. I just figured that once I had it, it..." It would lead me to me brother, I finished silently, realizing how stupid it sounded.
He took it and crossed the room, giving it to Batman. The Dark Knight studied it, running his hand over it.
"M'gann," Canary said. The Martian girl looked up to her, startled, "Find a free room for Silver. Make sure she gets something to eat. And Silver?" I looked up, quite confused. "Shower off and get a warm change of clothes. We'll discuss further arrangements tomorrow, or rather later on. After we've all had some rest."
With that she turned and left through one of the zeta tubes. As if dismissed, the older heros left, one sa pamamagitan ng one. Finally it was only the teenagers left.
"Well," M'gann said, "I'll ipakita you your room." The teens disbanded as she led me down the hall the others had come through. Some followed us. Others left through the zeta tubes. Everyone was silent.
That's how, 20 minutos later I ended up in a bed, in a room that I had never been in before. Stomach full of left over spaghetti and wearing a change of clothes I didn't own. Staring at the ceiling and wondering what in the Hell I'd gotten my self into.

So that's my explanation of how Silver Wings came to be in MT. Justice. She wasn't on the team yet, but if you want to figure that out, you'll have to keep pagbaba as I keep writing.
