It depends on what you like, whether romance is your thing, or mabye you like action pelikula or sad ones etc.
For action I would recommend Angel Beats! (Where a young boy fights for immortality)
For a sad anime: The Grave Of The Fireflies (about the American bombings in Japan)
For comedy: Arakawa Under The Bridge (a graduate has to adjust to a new life with strange neighboughs )
For romance: Most animes!
That should get you started :)
