Well, let's see...
I think Fullmetal Alchemist is a good show. It has some mildly disturbing bits and some blood and gore, though, in case you wanted to watch something with a younger sibling or something.
I really like Loveless. I don't know if you have already watched it, but it's an excellent anime. It's a little confusing at first, but if you keep watching, you'll understand what's going on. It's yaoi, though, in case you don't like that.
Ghost Hound is good, too, in my opinion. It's another one that's confusing at first. It has a lot of psychology mixed in, and supernatural elements.
I watched about one fourth of Angel Feather. It seems pretty good, but I'm not positive yet. Another yaoi.
You've probably already watched Ouran High School Host Club (most people I've talked to about anime have) but if not, it's very funny. I don't usually like shows like it (high school shows, were school is the setting and a lot of the plot) but it's definitely an exception.

Natsume Yuujinchou- [pictured and talked about below] Guilty Crown- (action like SAO, well drawn, intense story) K-project- (supernatural powers, mystery, action) Toradora!- (cute, sweet, funny romantic comedy) Black Cat- (light action, sad character situations) I've pictured Natsume Yuujinchou because it has a lot of touching stories and has the same feeling as Clannad and AnoHana. And it has some action like Sword Art Online. It is a really beautifully done anime with lovable characters, beautiful music, very well drawn and detailed, and stories that will touch your heart.
