@HQ; Is it the discussion that the show is going to be a bit more mature?

I don't like that "not too likely to live happily ever after"...

Arina, that's along the lines of what I've been noticing. When they talk about the show now, they usually talk about King Arthur and Queen Guinevere as a unit. For instance, in another article, it was "King Arthur with Queen Guinevere at his side," so forth and so on. It's "Arthur and Gwen" now rather than just Arthur, and then they talk about Merlin as a separate entity so to speak. And I notice when they talk about Arthur and Merlin, they talk about the bromance more as a lighthearted thing, but Arwen is now the foundation of Camelot. And it's a "fixed" foundation if that makes sense.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not insinuating that the whole Merlin and Arthur thing is not still the main focus, but I'm referring to the way these relationships are being viewed insofar as substance.

I didn't like the line about "they still behave like 13-year-old boys." Please, no more pantsing this season. The man is king now. Let him keep his trousers on.

With Merlin, anyway. With Gwen, they can and should be off as much as possible.

I wholeheartedly agree, Kim. That part I didn't like. I only hope they don't mean of the S4 variety. Please.

But the bantering, etc. I'm afraid we're still going to get that. That will appease certain factions who are drawn to the show for that reason. Also, they still have a considerable number of younger teens in the fandom, as we are well aware from some of the dialogue we're privy to online. We;re going to get a fair amount of silliness, unfortunately, king or no king. And we'll still get some humor, which I don't mind if it's the variety of 4x06. But I'm so hoping with all my heart it won't be of the nature of the pantless variety.

But for the most part, the articles and interviews are talking about Merlin being a major force to be contended with and doing huge deeds while struggling with the rightness and wrongness of using his magic in various circumstances. I rather look forward to that. And it sounds as though the king and queen work together and it's not Arthur and Merlin over here, and the queen somewhere in the shadows, worrying about the two of them.

While I am pleased that a picture of Arthur and Gwen was used in the magazine, I am not too thrilled that the words " not too likely to live happily ever after" is on Arwen's picture. I hope that it is not an indication of where the series might end, e.g. the death of Arthur. I really hope the show runners don't go down that road. I have no desire to see the death of my three favorite characters (Arthur, Gwen and Merlin). I hope that the words on the Arwen pictures just mean that Morgana and Mordred are going to put our couple through some crap.

As far as the "not too likely" comment, I'm choosing to believe that they're just f*cking with us to build interest and suspense.

Just read another article here with more info:

Two things of note which they've said a few times now. About the Jeeves and Wooster relationship between Arthur and Merlin, it's "just like any male friendship" and so on. Hmmmm. Interesting that they're stressing that. Also"Obviously Arthur will have a romantic connection with Gwen, his Queen, in the fifth season." I like hearing that. Maybe some romantic activity for Merlin, but he's got a lot on his plate, soooo.

Like I said, I'm really liking the emphasis on the Arwen unit and the reminder that the bromance is exactly that.

Notice too, they're going to go more with the things that worked best last season and do you notice they're going with the more multi-stranded emphases as they did in the final episodes last season. And we all know Arwen was important to those episodes.

The optimistic part of me interprets the not too likely comment as such that they have to face some threads and obstacles so they can't live happily but I think they will stay together and are happy together.

As much I like the bantering between Merlin and Arthur I ope for more seriousness in their relationship. first of all that Arthur takes Merlin more serious and shows him the respect he deserves.
(lol Jeeves and Wooster this is old gosh I'm such a junkie, not even British but knowing this *feeling crazy*)
