They're both dedicated, brave, and noble... but not without a sense of humor. Phillip is fun but not too disobedient or crass for Shang. I'd also say John Smith, but I think Shang might find John Smith ignorant or arrogant. I do think Shang, John, and Phillip would all be friends. Shang wouldn't be able to connect with any of the younger and/or rogue princes. For example, I don't think he'd really click with Aladdin or Flynn. Definitely not Charming. And he'd think Eric needs to get his head out of the clouds. I think he'd be okay with The Prince and the Beast.

I'd be amusing to see Flynn making snide comments and joking around and then Shang just kinda being super serious about things, until one day he just finally cracks. I think it'd be a cute relationship. Friendship or Romantic relationship, both work.
