I think it's devastating that people are being forced to choose between their liberty and their beliefs. Even the most jaded of nakakita should be legally free to be voiced, even if it may seem repugnant.
In this case, the protest pussy riot was making was NOT repugnant; It was actually a very apt concern. I agreed with nearly all their statements, and find their imprisonment was just further evidence for their case.
The argument is meant to be that they were guilty of "incitement", but they weren't advocating, condoning or encouraging a anarchy. (Not intentionally, anyway) They were simply highlighting a fairly overt problem, and apparrently people couldn't handle that.
It's tragic, really. I was never so upset about a political headline before. However, if there is any good in this regrettable fiasco, it would be that the publicity the band received upon their trial shed a lot of light on their cause. There's madami awareness of these issues, and madami people are taking action.
