Keisha Castle-Hughes talks Obara at Armageddon Expo

Kiwi actress Keisha Castle-Hughes has no idea if her character on massively popular HBO series

Game of Thrones will last another season.

In Auckland for pop-culture convention Armageddon, she said the cast was as in the dark about the future as fans of the show were.

"Honestly, we know nothing. The craziest thing about the show is that we are almost as in the dark as everyone else.

I actually learn more about the show from the fans then I do from working on it," Castle-Hughes told the Herald on Sunday.

Castle-Hughes said the cast had offered bosses bribes to find out upcoming storylines, but "they are rock solid" in their secretive stance.

The 25-year-old played warrior Obara Sand in series five and would love to be back for more.

"Obara Sand is the oldest of the Sand sisters and she is a bad-ass warrior who wields a spear," she said.

"She is not angry but she just has no room for emotion other than vengeance.

"I am a massive fan of the show and I had read all the books years before the beginning [of the TV show] ."

Castle-Hughes had her work cut out applying for the role, having to "convince the show runners that I could pull [it] off".

"I am using muscles in my body that I didn\'t even know I had. In the books Obara is described as big and brutish [whereas] I am quite small.

"I did a bunch of martial arts training and it was really exciting, and really different, but it is like a nice skill to have.

"I don\'t know when I will ever have to wield a spear in real life."

The actress first came to stardom at 13 in 2003 when she starred in

Juggling acting and being a mother and wife is sometimes difficult, Castle-Hughes said, but she and daughter Felicity "make it work".

"It is like anything. It is a hard balance to try and figure it out but it is no different to any working mother in the world," she said.

The actress is now working on Roadies, a TV show written and directed by Cameron Crowe, playing the role of a sound engineer. The series also stars Christina Hendricks, Luke Wilson and Imogen Poots.
