OK...

Hermione is not meant to be physically attractive. Ginny is not neccesarily the 'Hogwarts Hottie', she's just nice.

I haven't read this interview thing, but I'm guessing the point is that she's against the celebrities (role models) that are skin and bones and surgically enhance their bodies. Basically, she's against these women who make their fans want to achieve the impossible, or at least unhealthy, because apparently that's 'perfection'. This message that Rowling's giving us is a positive one.
What she tells us in her books is that physical flaws are a good thing. That she makes the Slytherins ugly is, I believe a metaphor in that they have ugly personalities. And not all her villains are like this; look at Bellatrix! She's described as beautiful even though she spent 15 years in Azkaban.
Her good characters are normal in appearance. They have physical pros and flaws, JUST LIKE REAL PEOPLE. Hermione has large front teeth, which she is insecure about and so shrinks magically, and bushy (not curly) hair. Other than that, yes she is quite pretty JUST LIKE REAL PEOPLE. And of course she looked pretty in her dress robes, with her hair done nicely and makeup applied. Most people look good when dressed up.
Ginny is referred to as very good looking, but even she has some flaws. I don't think Luna is ever said to be pretty; she has large eyes that make her look constantly surprised, and dirty blonde hair.
Rowling shows us that beauty isn't black and white; there are different types and varying degrees. Meyer, on the other hand, makes all of her characters physically flawless. She doesn't understand that real people aren't perfect, and even seems to prefer her characters to real people, which just goes to show how shallow she is.

^ Exactly. The author of this article clearly doesn't know what they are talking about. Also, Harry is 'short'. No, Harry is clearly described as tall, or at least average height.
And the point about Hermione is mute. She's a fourteen year old girl, of course she's going to be a bit self-concious. The point is, that's the only thing she changes about herself.

^"The point is, that's the only thing she changes about herself."
Exactly! From the Yule Ball chapter in book 4, we even know that she is capable of changing other stuff about herself, but she chooses not to. It is too much bother for her to physically "fix herself up" every day, and not worth it. I personally find that very admirable, considering I know some girls who spend an hour on their hair every morning.

This article seems to be written from an already extremely biased point of view, it's almost as if the author is twisting what is actually in the books.

Real people aren't flawless, but they were vampires, not real people, who in mmany cases are known to be unbelieveably gorgeous. She didn't make them attractive just because.

That was the most shallow interview I've ever read. Apparently only people with blonde, straight hair are attractive.'Oh wait, Hermione has BROWN,CURLY hair' And when did Ginny have three boyfriends? Whoever read this clearly doesn't know a damn thing about Harry Potter.

Once again, the article is irrelevant, bias and invalid. You keep trying to repeat the same things over and over again, and it's getting old and tiresome.

Seriously, you want to prove your point? STOP POSTING LINKS TO EXTREMELY BIAS ARTICLES. There is nothing whatsoever factual in any of your links. Nothing you post is credible. Everytime you post something like this, I lose my credibility in you even more. You're not even contributing to the debate, you're just posting random and pointless anti-HP articles and photos that no one takes seriously.

Grow up. Post something that's actually factual. (Hint: An article that is strongly opinionated probably isn't factual.) I'd also like to point out that I wasn't happy with the whole Twilight-hate before then, so I'm not trying being hypocritical here.

@cassie-1-2-3: Just because Stephenie Meyer's characters are vampires doesn't make it okay that they don't have any flaws. Any character in a story that has a mind of its own has to have flaws, human or not. Also, I was under the impression she made them attractive "just because" - she dreamed up Edward, right? There really was no other reason they were attractive other than the fact that they "attract their prey". (Was it? I haven't read the books in a while.)

youknowit101's posts are getting repititive...

@cassie-1-2-3:
Yes, but even characters that aren't vampires. I'll stick to the female characters because that's what we've been talking about so far. (Note: I don't have the books with me, so I'm going off memory here)
Renee - described as being "prettier than [Bella]" with "laugh lines". We know that Bella's meant to be very pretty, just insecure about herself. If Renee's prettier than her, then there aren't many flaws. I don't personally see laugh lines as a flaw.
Leah - described as having an "exotic beauty", glossy black hair and smooth dark skin.
Emily - despite her scars, she is supposed to be extremely beautiful.
Kim - Bella initially thinks of her as "plain" but then realises she has naturally long eyelashes and a pretty smile. It doesn't seem like "plain" means anything in Twilight, considering Bella described herself as plain but no one else thought so.
I can't remember any descriptions about Bella's human friends, except that Jessica's short with curly hair (I personally don't see either of these traits as bad), and that Angela's very tall (like many supermodels).
@HaleyDewit: Ginny has had three boyfriends: Michael Corner (I think), Dean Thomas, and finally Harry, but over the course of several years, not all at once. This also isn't a bad thing, but normal amongst teenage girls.

This isn't true. You post links to various articles and then never attempt to defend the content.
