Harry Potter Tanong

Can houses have stereotypes?

Well the fans, at least have IMO, managed to make a stereotype for a couple of houses, Hufflepuff Slytherin and maybe Ravenclaw.(Although Slytherin's stereotype actually did come from the book)

See:
Slytherin's came from the book and it's heard a lot, and that is all Slytherin's are bad.

Hufflepuff's is that they are all idiots and are completely useless. (Ironically a lot of this comes from people who cried when Cedric died)

And Ravenclaw I've heard a few times but it's not a popular one but some people think they are snobby.

I am sure Gryffindor has one too but I have yet to hear one.

Most definitely the houses have stereotypes.

The clearest one for Slytherin is the one you mentioned, that they're the bad guys and are all evil. Another is that they're all purebloods, but they obviously do accept halfbloods and I just think a Muggleborn would struggle to be fit in there.

Hufflepuff have the stereotypes that they're stupid, or boring, or are just the people who don't fit into other houses.

Ravenclaw have the stereotype that they're all geeks or swots. I've also seem people say that Ravenclaws need to be open minded, but I don't see that in everyone from that house (mainly just Luna, and her father if he was in the same house).

Gryffindor, I think, has a bit of a stereotype of all having a hero complex like Harry. Or of being brash, or ipinapakita off.

Yeah I agree. Some of my mga kaibigan call others a Slytherin when they do something mean and they call them Hufflepuffs when they do something stupid, which kind of gets on my nerves.

The housing system itself is kind of based around stereotype so... yeah, there are absolutely stereotypes associated with each house.

The main negative stereotype against Gryffindors is that they are arrogant and reckless, closedminded and dimwitted.
