Olsens launch assault on Aussie market

September 26 2002

The world's most successful telebisyon twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, have announced their billion-dollar empire was poised for an assault on the Australian market.

The mary-kateandashley brand is already a hit in Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States where the twins, now 16, rose to fame in the hit series Full House, which ran from 1987 to 1995.

Since then, they've built a billion-dollar empire that includes clothing, movies, telebisyon shows, bidyo and books.

The pair flew into Sydney on Tuesday and...

sa pamamagitan ng 2002, the British edition of PR Week (November 1, 2002) claimed that mary-kateandashley was the "number one girl's brand in the U.S.," and the brand was on its way to being a juggernaut in Great Britain as well. The Jackie Cooper PR company launched an extensive campaign, building up British girls' awareness of the Olsens, who had long been shown in re-runs in the United Kingdom. The Olsens landed in England in April to do press appearances. Their clothing lines were sold in the United Kingdom at the chain George at Asda. (George at Asda is part of Asda, a British subsidiary of Wal-Mart.)...

Chapter 1
"Roxy, here comes your bus."
"Check it out, Is that cool or what!" I sinabi to Jane, bouncing up and down. I could hardly contain my excitement. I knew that from that particular point in time, my whole life was going to change.
There it was, gleaming in the late autumn sunshine, the Simple Plan Tour bus parked outside my house. The door opens with a swisshh and Justin saunters out looking every bit the Rock'N'roll manager with a dark T-shirt and matching denim dyaket .
"Yo Rox, we gotta get going."
"Just a minute," I replied. I smiled at Jane who was on the front...

"Sweet freedom, here we come!" Mary-Kate Olsen called out at the tuktok of her lungs. A cheer went up from the crowd around her, and she laughed, loving the light-as-air-feeling in her heart. Mary-Kate was perched on the roll bar of her friend Trevor Reynolds's new Jeep Wrangler, surveying the massive party. The entire senior class of Ocean View High had gathered at the tabing-dagat on this last Friday before finals, parking their cars right up against the sand and bringing all kinds of drinks, snacks, and CDs to help them party the night away. A bonfire roared, and music blared from a boom box as people...

Tick, tick, tick. That's all I can hear. A clock ticking, quietly at first, then louder and louder... Tick tick tick... So loud it seems to echo inside my head.
Then I see where the sound is coming from--a giant clock. A clock as big as a house. I stare at it, confused. I blink and lunok hard. I'm all out of breath, but I don't know why. What time is it? I stare at the clock, but I can't read it. What do the dots mean? What do those long and short arms mean? I can't remember....
The clock disappears, and I'm in a long white hallway lined with unmarked doors. It's so cold I can see my breath.......

TWIN PEAKS

"Not to brag or anything," says 9-year-old Mary Kate Olsen, part-time fourth grader and full-time multimillionaire, "but I'm pretty tough.' Her twin sister, Ashley, would have to agree. "You don't want to get on her nerves," she says. "Sometimes she gets mad, and it's not a pretty sight." Fresh from a business meeting with their high-powered entertainment lawyer at his plush Century City, Calif., office, the two are lunching with him and a business associate at the L.A. theme restaurant Dive! And Mary Kate, unfazed sa pamamagitan ng her sister's unflatterin discription, is digging into an enormous...

OLSENS TO THE RESCUE

The Full House Twins spin some Halloween movie magic - and keep their money-making machine churning

Ernest Hemingway once sinabi that the real measure of a writer was an ability to write while in the throes of a hangover. I would like to append this for the '90s. The real measure of a writer is: to be able to fashion a story our of an interview with Full House's mighty munchkins, the Olsen twins. I've got history with the Olsens. Last year, when they were 6, I interviewed them while they were shooting their pasko TV-movie, "To Grandmother's House We Go." It killed in the...

OLSEN TWINS IN mapait TUG OF LOVE

Heartbroken Full House twins Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen face the nightmare of being split up sa pamamagitan ng a custody battle following their father's remarriage. "If they are separated it could leave emotional scars that would last a lifetime," a family friend told STAR. "But the judge may have to be Solomon." Insiders say the 9-year-olds, who jointly played Michelle Tanner on the hit sitcom, are devastated since dad David Olsen married his former secretary Mckenzie Taylor, 36 -and have taken opposite sides in the latest battle between their mother and father. They've even...

Chloe rolled her eyes. "Riley, this certificate represents promptness, class participation, and good work habits. If I keep this up, I'm going to get a reputation!" "Oh, yeah, I can see it now," Riley joked. "Written on the pader in the boys' locker room: For a good example, call Chloe." "Real funny," Chloe moaned. "Look--you have a free period now. Come eat with me. I need moral support. "Okay," Riley agreed. "I don't have to study for a test. Besides, we can talk about the party. They headed down to the cafeteria, quickly bought their lunch, and found a seat.

"Good citizen award," Chloe muttered,...

The 19-year-olds arrived in Sydney ahead of a fashion launch today aimed at Sydney's "tweens". The launch is likely to further boost the twins' substantial fortune, which has been built since they were nine months old and starring in the telebisyon series Full House.

Australian parents will need to be ready for wide-eyed appeals for cash from their daughters because the twins are releasing yet another branded fashion range through Big W. The designs, hand-picked sa pamamagitan ng the Olsens, are targeted directly at girls aged from six to 12 years old.

You thought 'The Brady Bunch' ended?
Wrong. It's back - disguised as 'Full House.

THESE DAYS, IT has become commonplace to observe that there's an entire generation of American adults carrying around in its collective head the theme song and a few dozen vividly remembered episode of 'The Brady Bunch'. The series was a classic example of mass entertainment that bypass critical acclaim while shooting '70s youth with earnest but false banalities about the enduring strength of the nuclear family. The Bunch gave comfort both sincere and campy to its decade as no situation comedy ever has....

MOM KNOWS BEST!

Mom Knows Best! (Yes even in Hollywood)

The adorable Olsen twins of Full House may be tiny superstars, but their mother Jarnette says ther're just ordinary six-year-olds at home. "There's some sibling rivalry, as with all brothers and sisters," says Jarnette, referring to the twins, their seven-year-old brother; Trent and three-year-old sister Elizabeth. "For instance," she says, "Trent doesn't like it when the other kids play with his Nintendo -that's when some little fights come about." What happens then? "They're disciplined," says their mom. "There are time-outs. and sometimes...

DOUBLY DELIGHTFUL

Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen "Play" Full House's Baby Michelle!

She's adorable, huggable, and oh-so-loveable -she's Full House's little Michelle Tanner. Actually, she's Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, the darling twins who portray Michelle on the hilarious Friday night sitcom. In case you didn't know, child actor labor laws restrict young children to pagganap a limited number of hours a week, so twins are often cast to portray one character. Mary Kate and Ashley have been playing the role of Michelle since they were nine months old. If you watch...

GIRLS INCORPORATED

Girls Incorporated

They are to tweens what Martha Stewart is to American homemakers: arbiters of all that is right and good and stylish. But Mary-Kate (far right) and Ashley Olsen, 15-year-old twins from San Fernando Valley, are also budding tycoons, blithely ensconced atop a cross-platform fashion-and-entertainment empire. Having infiltrated every medium known to girls aged 6 to 14, the Mary-Kate-and-Ashley brand is poised to generate $ 1 billion in revenue in 2002. The twins'clothing-and-accessories line, purveyed exclusively through Wal-Mart, is on pace to eclipse Kmart's...

SISTER'S

Ashley & Mary- Kate Olsen, Sister's

Much as they loved their eight years playing Michelle Tanner on the recently canceled Full House, the Olsen twins, now 9, weren't wil about her wardrobe. "Ugly," says Ashley-a critique echoed sa pamamagitan ng Mary Kate. "I hated some of the clothes," she confesses. "They were not my style. "Which like her sister's, is madami casual than Michelle's: lots of T-shirts, shorts, overalls and jeans. "I never wear dresses," explains Mary Kate. "They're not comfortable." The picky pixie does like trendy duds that match, while her older (by three minutes) sisters opts...

FULL HOUSE'S TYCOON TOTS

The Olsen twins of Full House are normal 7-years-olds, except they're rich, rich, rich!

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, the cute-beyond-measure, sparkle-eyed twins who share the role of Michelle on ABC's Full House, act just like any other 7-year-old girls. They are shy around strangers, giggly when left to themselves. They share secrets. They like ice cream and ponies and swimming-pool slides. And, like most little girls, they fidget when they're sleepy and pout when they're angry.
"I want a tiger, Daddy," Mary-Kate kept saying, over and over, squirming in the back upuan of...

FULL HOUSE cuties Ashley and Mary Kate Olsen are so bored with pagganap that shooting stops on the set until they are bribed with sweets or promised an afternoon of play.
The 5-year-old twins started sharing the role of Michelle when they were nine months old.
"They've played Michelle for so long they just get bored," says an insider on the set. "Ashley, the feisty one, will just stubbornly tumawid her arms and pout. Then either Bob Saget or John Stamos will walk over to her and say, 'Ashley if you say your lines and play Michelle we'll give you...

FULL HOUSE TWINS FACE AXE

As they grow apart, they can't take turns playing TV's cutest kid- so one stays and the other must go

Twins Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, who bituin in Full House, are being split up. After they turn 6 this year, only one will be needed to play bubbly Michelle Tanner. Because of stringent labor laws when the ipakita first aired in 1987, producers were forced to hire twins to play the one role. That's not the case after the children have their sixth birthday in June. There is also concern that, since the girls are fraternal -not identical-twins, they soon might start to look...

CHRISTMAS WITH THE FULL HOUSE TWINS

Christmas With The 'Full House' Twins

Every pasko Eve, Dave Olsen, Ashley and Mary Kate's Father, cuts sponges into the shape of footprints, dips them in flour and makes little elf prints on the floor throughout the house. Outside, on the front lawn of the handsome 5,800-square-foot tahanan in San Fernando Valley, he puts down prints around a sled-shaped section of the lawn. "The kids still believe that if they don't go to sleep, Santa's helpers won't come," says Dave. But they don't sleep for long. At 5:30 pasko morning, Ashley and Mary Kate, 6, Elizabeth...
