Okay, this idea came to me in a dream. It's Skilene... Just not a happy one. I would've put this on FF.net, but for some reason, it somehow got a parental block on it. :/
Marlene didn't want to let go. She didn't. She was afraid and worried and she didn't want him to leave.
"Skipper," She grasped tighter into the hug, not caring if her ring clenched uncomfortably tight to her finger. "Don't go. Please, don't go," She tried to keep the tears from her voice. She tried to sound strong, for him and for herself, but her sadness leaked into her voice and her guard went down. She grasped tighter to his military uniform and started to quiver.
"You know I can't go AWAL. It's illegal," Marlene let out a sob. The soldier closed his eyes and wrapped his arms around her slender figure.
He fingered the ring on his finger, remembering the happy araw they were joined in holy matrimony, which was no madami than a couple of weeks before the devastating call to duty he got 4 days ago. In truth, Skipper was conflicted. He didn't want to leave Marlene, the pag-ibig of his life, but a part of him will always be dedicated to making the world a better place, despite how much it made him sound like a hippy.
"Please, Skipper!" She choked out. "I don't want you to go!" She cried and cried and Skipper started to feel the damp spot under his clothes. He swallowed, feeling the unfamiliar sting of tears in the back of his eyes. He can't cry. He must be strong.
"Marlene," He pulled her off of him and made her stare at him in the face. He gently ran his thumbs under her hazel eyes, wiping away the tears. "Have trust in me that I'll come back to you. I'll fight to the DEATH for you," He, for a moment, looked at his team, who stared from a distance at the scene before them. Private was actually wiping an eye.
"But what if you can't fight back? What if you d-"
"Shhh..." Skipper stopped her before she sinabi that forbidden word. He smirked his sly smirk at her and, for a moment, she felt a little better. "Don't worry, dollface, I'll come back ligtas and sound. Especially with Rico and Kowalski as my back up," Skipper grabbed her into a hug and ran his hand through her hair. "I'll be fine. Really. And when I come back, we can pick up where we left off," She nodded a couple of times.
"Okay," She pulled away and stared lovingly at him. "Okay," Skipper smirked again and kissed her. At that moment, Marlene knew she wouldn't be okay while he was gone. She loved him too much.
"Skipper... It's time we go," They pulled away from the halik and looked over at Kowalski, who was wearing a matching uniform. Skipper sighed deeply and pulled away from Marlene. He walked over to the rest of his team and stopped in front of Private.
"Private, do you understand exactly why I didn't asign you to this mission?" The younger one shook his head. "I left you here for two reasons; to keep you ligtas and to watch over Marlene for me. Please keep her sane while I'm gone,"
"Aye-Aye Skippah! I will do my best to keep her from going bonkers," Private saluted his leader while he walked towards their jeep. Rico and Kowalski piled into it, waiting for Skipper to follow. The leader looked back at his wife one last time before jumping into the jeep and driving away. Marlene stared as the vehicle turned the corner and out of her life. She felt the tears blur her vision again and she let them fall. She didn't want to feel better. She wanted Skipper and he just left.
"Oh, Marlene," Private walked over to her and hugged her. "Everything will be alright," She doubted it. "Let's go inside. I'll make you tea. Then maybe we could go to the zoo and look at the otters, if you want," She looked down at the younger one gratefully.
"Thanks but no thanks, Private. I just want to go tahanan and lay down," The two started walking inside the building. "But I'll take that tsaa before I do anything else," Private smiled brightly at her. She forced a smile back at him.
"You'll see Marlene. Everything will turn out for the better," The two of them walked into his apartment. She smiled for real this time as she watched Private fuss with the water kettle. If he could be optimistic, she could be too. Well, she could try, at least.
