It is probably very sad, but most of my life I have chose my mga kaibigan over my family. Sometimes wrong, sometimes rightly so. My family has never been accepting, and always very judgemental. If I were gay and marrying another race with my love-child it might be better, lol, but my mga kaibigan have actually ended up being there for me madami and when I needed them, less two-faced and back-stabbing than family.
