I dunno......I mean I usually reject people when they ask me out.I would only go out with people I know best.

Well, I think that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and if you think he's ugly someone else will think he's good looking. Also, I think he'd be hoping you'd look beyond the face and consider his character before you reject him.

Well, some people ARE jerks (I hate to say) who hit on anyone & don't care...or if not a jerk or messed up, then maybe just think if they ask enough they are bound to get lucky eventually :) ??? -or with "someone." So they are oblivious or don't care.
(I don't mean to sound like I am being mean... but there ARE those types and I have a LOT of experience... I am picky but I still try to always be nice & treat each individually with care and consideration, often much to my bf's chagrin, but I do not believe in being rude to someone who has asked me out).

Others may be hoping-just hopeful... and a lot of times this is the case. Nothing wrong with hope. Some people may see it as unrealistic, but may be they don't.

Maybe they do realise they are not all that but maybe they think madami of you or of themselves to think that a person can look past just the surface -especially if they like them.
