What do u think about ppl arguing over shipping characters in fictional settings and stories?

It depends. I think that its silly to argue over ships alone. But a lot of people start attacking the fans instead of the ships and the attacks get really personal. I don't think that it's silly to get pissed when someone goes from, "your ship is for ppl who lack braincells" to "kill yourself, dumbass."

Granted I've learned my lesson and try to stay out of ship and fictional character wars. I'll say my piece and have rational discussions and debates but if it starts to get heated or personal I'll end the discussion and (if needed) block the person.

( Rarely use this phrase but...) They honestly need to get a life. It's pretty damn stupid tbh but then again most fandom arguments tend to be stupid in some way

Just plain stupid. Certain people even call you a homophobic if you don't ship a gay/lesbian ship. Like dude/girl, just because you prefer some other ships instead of a same-gender it doesn't make them homophobic.

I do ship ships myself, I just don't attack other people for it. Unlike them I got better things to do, that hating on something, that doesn't even exist

I find it unnecessary and a waste of time honestly. It's all good having your Ships. Nothing wrong with that of course. Don't see a point though enforcing your preferences to others or making it a deal / lashing out because they are not in agreement. Stating your opinion and standing sa pamamagitan ng it is one thing and attacking people who do not share the same stance is another matter entirely. That going for every subject besides Shipping. Whether in Fiction or Reality too, is there really a point in all of that? Everyone is entitled to their opinion. In the end, you get your Shipping coming true, horay. You don't, hey, it happens. The Creator of a work has a view of his own and is ought to be respected. There is always Fanfiction if you want to express your own. Depending on the Story, not everything has to turn into Romance in any case. Have always found it pretty annoying. A toxic part I try to avoid in any Fandom I am part of !!!!

Arguing over fictional ships is dumb. Shipping is supposed to be fun.

I don't care if the ship is ~problematic~, either. Just make sure it's got content warnings (or, for fics, at least a message that the creator chose not to put content warnings on a potentially triggering work so readers can decide themselves if they want to continue) and it's in an adult puwang if it's nsfw. No, the content doesn't inherently "normalize" shit.

It's fun as long as they're speculating and giving theories in their arguments of why their ship should be the otp. When it crosses the insult /'immature cussing' line, I'm out of the conversation (yes, also if it's between other people and I'm just pagbaba comments). And let's not even mention the ones who are toxic through and through. Searching for anyone with a different opinion just to diss them.

Tbh it can be fun at times but not like the people who would actually kill you if you dont have the same opinion as them.
