How come nobody saved Jack?

i think that nobody saved him was because as soon as he hit the water he probably sucked in to much water and that was probably why.

I wondered this too. I did a little research and this maybe a possibility. It's about a man who also died from falling in ice.

Bayfield man snowmobiling near Madeline Island Saturday afternoon died after falling through thin ice, staying submerged in icy water for 45 minutes.

That's a possibility that Jack's sister did try to help him out or get help.

Also, that it was impossible considering the time period to isda him out. And that similar risk of rescuers falling into the icy water too. Jack probably tried to get out, but because of the cold water his body might have gone into complete shock.
