What To Expect From Avengers: Infinity War\'s Story, According To Josh Brolin
The Avengers, Thanos has been looming in the background of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While he’s since appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Age of Ultron, the Mad Titan has been lounging on his floating chair while his minions do his dirty work. Now that Phase Three is underway, the Marvel baddie is finally getting his own hands dirty and gearing up to battle the Marvel heroes in Avengers: Infinity War. Having already looked at the two-part epic’s script, Josh Brolin has promised fans that it will fulfill its role as the wrap-up of everything that’s happened in the MCU since its inception.
After addressing how he’s gotten a lot of publicity for his involvement as Thanos despite having barely playing the character, Brolin told Moviefone how Avengers: Infinity War will deliver on the promise of his character vs nearly every Marvel movie protagonist. He said:
These Avengers stories all come down to this conclusion, and that\'s our involvement. Basically, my character against everybody. And it\'s really fun what they\'ve chosen to do with the story. I think it\'s brilliant, personally. I was blown away, and had goose pimples pretty much 50% of the time that I was listening to what was going on, and pretty amazed that I\'m going to be involved in it. So it\'s a big thing that\'s coming up. The MCU has introduced a lot of mighty villains over the years, but Thanos will soon take his spot as the mightiest among the ranks in a few years. The Mad Titan is a powerhouse with his own natural abilities, but once he collects the six Infinity Stones and puts them in his Infinity Gauntlet, he’ll become practically god-like. Until now, Thanos has left the search for some of these ancient artifacts to Loki and Ronan, but the former failed his mission and the latter betrayed him. Making matters worse, Thanos gave Loki with the Mind Stone in The Avengers, but the God of Mischief lost it during the Battle of New York, and now it rests in The Vision’s forehead.
At the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Thanos decided he would take matters into his own hands and hunt for the Infinity Stones personally. It’s unclear whether audiences will see him find them one by one during other Phase Three movies or collect all of them during Avengers: Infinity War. Either way, it’s going to take every major hero in the MCU to take him down once he finally obtains near-invincibility, whether they’re Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy or someone else. This gigantic conflict will wrap up the saga told over the last 10 years, though the fictional universe will continue in Phase Four.
Thanos’ power will be unleashed starting with Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 on May 4, 2018, and the tale will continue when Avengers: Infinity War Part 2 is released on May 3, 2019.
