Am I the only one that thinks its so unfair that kind hearted JACK dies and that bastard Cal lives?

yes i am disappointed that Jack died, but if Cal died and Jack lived it would have been to predictable. The good guy wins and the bad guy loses. so i know they did it for a reason and made it unpredictable

Cameron wanted the audience to sympathize with the story. To feel how devestating Titanic was for the real passengers and families involved, he had to create a tragic story involving characters that the audience really got to know and cared about. Rose couldn't die of course because she was the narrator. Jack's death was imminent from the beginning. He HAD to die. Had he lived, Titanic would be nearly as powerful as it is. Also, I think that Cameron was trying to make a point about class distinctions of the time. Did you notice how all the 3rd class passengers died and the 1st class passengers lived? Even Rose who went down with the ship?

wellllll...technically Cal dies too,it's just that it takes him a little longer,17 years later actually.

I think it's sad that Jack died too. Cal was annoying and he shouldn't have lived.

as Machiavellian as Cal's actions were, they don't justify death for me. Don't get me wrong...I'm not saying Jack should've died, but it's unlikey that Jack's fate would've been any different had Cal died as well.

I did wish that Jack did lived and marries Rose and have a family. But the film wouldn't be as good as it is. It's sad that Jack died but that's what made the film become very popular. Cal is an asshole from treating both Rose and Jack. I do believe how you feel. Jack is madami caring
and outgoing and willing to anything for Rose while Cal just wants to marry Rose for the money making Rose feel trapped. Rose wanted to feel free and happy and Jack is the one that made her happy. But this is how director, James Cameron wanted the film to be. I think it's one of the best films (based on a true story) ever.
