For an episode that went the distance sa pamamagitan ng cutting out both the opening and ending sequences, the conclusion to this arc came off like a season finale of sorts, except when it came to the actual content. Much like this series is known for, the big threat was explained yet never got remotely off the ground, as Touma settled everything with his right hand like he always does. After Biagio dropped enough clues about removing the targeting restriction of the reyna of the Adriatic Sea for Orsola to figure out his true motive of wiping Academy City and science off the face of the Earth, I was anticipating...

All the jostling between Touma and Stiyl this episode may not have been just to throw Oriana off, as our righteous protagonist (except when it comes to hitting girls) looked like he was purposely prolonging Stiyl’s suffering. It was rather hypocritical, ibingiay that Touma was telling Oriana to place madami value on other people’s lives. I guess that doesn’t apply to the guy behind him swimming in a pool of his own blood. I try not to dwell on Touma’s preaching tendency since it’s a core part of his character, but he continues to amaze me with how much time he spends trying to get his...

Well, that was certainly a quick finish. This arc (volume 8) was set to be covered in two episodes, and thus this felt a bit rushed, but at least the pacing wasn’t as bad as last week’s episode. That said, I didn’t like how the anime portrayed the arc, as it felt as if characters were just being thrown in for no particular reason and it didn’t address the importance of Last Order and Accelerator being shown, i.e. why Last Order remembered Accelerator despite the fact that all her memories from the time she first met Accelerator were wiped. I suppose in the context of the anime we can...

Having been looking pasulong to this sequel ever since Railgun ended back in March, I must say that this first episode certainly did not fail to meet my expectations. This episode gave me exactly what I was looking pasulong to seeing again on Touma’s side of the story; nonsensical arguments between Kamijou-san and Index, misguided magicians with pathetic illusions clouding their vision, and yes, even the “Kamijou Choir” that this anime has become infamous for. Lest we not forget the imagery porn that Index and Railgun are also known for, with backgrounds so beautifully drawn and detailed...

After Stiyl leads Touma back into the cram school building, they find an unconscious Index with Aureolus and Himegami at the top. Keeping Touma from immediately charging forward, Stiyl tells Aureolus that he won’t be able to accomplish his goal of saving Index. As it turns out, Aureolus was Index’s partner three years ago, and because he still thinks that she needs her memories erased every year, he’s come up with a plan to turn her into a vampire because Bampira can save an infinite amount of memory and not lose their self. Aureolus is thus shocked when Stiyl reveals that Touma has...

Orsola Aqunias; a nun who is good at deciphering ancient codes/magic codes
Orsola Aquinas (オルソラ=アクィナス Orusora Akwinasu) is a nun-in-training formerly under the Roman Catholic Church, who specializes in preaching to pagan countries, and in decoding written codes. This skill in decoding puts her into the harm's way as she wanted to decipher and destroy the infamous Book of the Law, prompting the very institution she is in to attack her, and forcing her to seek refuge. She is first introduced in Toaru Majutsu no Index in distress, and her plight and struggle is chronicled in the Orsola Aquinas Rescue Arc.
Afterwards she receives the protection of the...

And so we finally arrive at the finale of this arc, and what a finale it was. While it was a bit rushed, it’s easy to turn a blind eye to the pacing with the sheer amount of win in this episode. The obvious highlight of this episode was the loli palkon manuntok Touma delivered to Agnese to break her illusions, a manuntok I’ve been waiting to see animated again for a long time. It felt wrong pumping my fists as a little girl got a new face arrangement, but you couldn’t help but feel excited to see the patented Touma palkon manuntok in action again. I found the fight itself between Touma and Agnese...

Upon finding his father on the beach, Touma tanong why he got involved in occult stuff. Although initially hesitant to say anything, his father eventually explains that it has to do with how Touma used to be known as a jinx because of all his misfortune. He sent Touma to Academy City because it wasn’t a superstitious place, but even science couldn’t get rid of the misfortune, and that’s why he relied on the occult. This frustrates Touma because despite the misfortune, he never sinabi that he regretted it, and he wants to walk his own path. Realizing that Touma had actually been happy,...

On a rooftop one night, a girl with a sniper riple targets a guy who just came out of a store. She calls her target Accelerator, but when she fires, the gun explodes, and she’s thrown back with a severe arm injury. The girl who resembles Misaka Mikoto now tries to flee, but she’s cornered sa pamamagitan ng the same guy she tried to shoot. Sometime later, Touma is heading tahanan from school when he stops off to get a drink from a vending machine. He sticks a 2000 yen bill into it, and much to his dismay, the machine eats the money without giving him a drink or change. Mikoto then appears and kicks the machine...

Tsukuyomi Komoe (Komoe-sensei); she's very knowledgeable about esper related things despite looking like a little child as she is an adult
Tsukuyomi Komoe (月詠 小萌 Tsukuyomi Komoe) is a character first introduced in Toaru Majutsu no Index. She is the homeroom teacher of taon 1 Class 7 of a certain high school.
Although looking like a twelve-year-old child, she is one of the oldest adults known in the series. Beyond both her childish appearance and her demeanor lies a very competent teacher who cares for her students, and one of the few characters who knows Touma well enough before his memory loss.

With a height of only 135 centimeters, kulay-rosas hair and eyes, as well as her apparent fondness to wearing cute and childish outfits...

For a short two-episode arc that coincides with the conclusion of this segundo season, there was actually a fair bit of lead-in to what’s around the corner, suggesting that this is the foundation for a third season sometime down the road. We’ll probably be seeing madami of GROUP after Touma and Accelerator cleaned up most of Skill-Out, after the latter cornered their leader Ritoku and caused him to commit suicide over being killed.

Action-wise, I was quite impressed sa pamamagitan ng what Ritoku could do with military-grade “Hard Taping” applied directly to his body, granting him both superhuman speed...

Another awesome episode the very susunod week? Who would’ve thunk it? There was a bit of foreshadowing with Hyouka ipinapakita up, but this was an otherwise lighthearted affair with Accelerator and Last Order joining in on the fun. Definitely To Aru Majutsu no Index at its finest (…at least for me).

Less Mikoto, madami Misaka Imouto. While I’m just as much of a tagahanga of Biribiri’s interactions with Touma as the susunod person, Misaka 10032 was surprisingly cute when she wanted a ring and overreacted to animal donuts being eaten. Getting to see a girlish side in any of the Sisters is always a plus,...

This has to be one of the few series where the character interactions provide a lot madami entertainment than the actual plot, and Touma’s return to Academy City made this one of the best episodes this sequel in that regard. The huge cast of characters are a lot of fun to watch, especially when they all come together with their various nuances. In a very cliche sense, I dare say it doesn’t even matter what they’re doing, as long as they’re doing it together, and I’ll be thoroughly entertained.

Having Mikoto around is always a big plus, though I’m finding that it’s infinitely better...

There was a fair bit of build-up in this episode towards about the Croce di Pietro, which Touma and Tsuchimikado had a fairly long talk about, so hopefully it won’t be simply brushed aside with a new development as well. After the Stab Sword turned out to be a “plot feint”, I’m starting to become a bit wary of these twists that don’t really feel like one. The only thing worst than lengthy exposition to build suspense is lengthy exposition that I take the time to understand, only to learn in the subsequent episode that I didn’t really have to bother to do so. This episode moved fairly...
