Because Stephenie Meyer is a shitty may-akda who can't write to save her life. And she uses words that, make readers confused. She is using walang tiyak na layunin works like "beautiful, and sparkle, and such" to make the reader fall even madami in pag-ibig with the vampires, such as "Edward Cullen."
In myth, Bampira are supposed to burn when sunlight reaches their skin. And also, they can be killed with wooden stake and they fear holy objects like the Holy Cross, garlic bulaklak etc. Stephanie Meyer moulded her version of Bampira so that they can go about easily instead of just coming out at night and also to make them seem indestructable. Meyer wanted to make her Bampira absolutely flawless, so she brought it up that her version of Bampira sparkle.

Bram Stoker completely ignored that myth when he wrote Dracula. What's wrong with that guy?

Because its Smeyer's sexual pantasiya and sparkling is apparently 'hot'. And it's based on a dream. It does not do to dwell on dreams, Harry. DUMBLEDORE HAS SPOKEN!!! Sorry, just felt like Pagsulat that.
