Artemis could feel the worry inside her. Everything seemed to go sa pamamagitan ng in slow motion as she, Willow, and Adam snuck into Cheshire's house. It was easy, considering Adam knew the codes and where she lived. Closing the door behind him, Adam motioned for the girls to go ahead.
“Open a window and find the cure. I'll warn you if she comes. If I see her, get out through the window and run.”
Willow and Artemis nodded, looking around the simple apartment for the cure. Artemis knew it was in here; Cheshire had them everywhere. But how was she able to hide it so well? Artemis was looking in drawers and cabinets when she head Willow exclaim.
“I found something!”
Artemis went over to a cabinet that hadn't been there three segundos ago.
“A spring cabinet. I should have known. Now we just need to find the antidote.”
“Ladies! She's coming!”
Artemis quickly grabbed two, instructing Willow to grab one more. They slipped through the window and ran. Artemis looked behind once, but Adam wasn't following them. What happened to Adam?! Ignoring the worry inside of her, Artemis ran beside Willow. They went down several blocks and for several miles before they stopped, too tired to move.
“W-Where's....Adam?” Artemis asked.
Willow shrugged.
“I'm...not sure. Why do we...need all of...these vials?”
“They are...the same color the...antidote is supposed...to be.”
Willow nodded and the two sank to the ground. A small black tuta came towards them, barking.
“It's Adam!” Willow exclaimed.
Sure enough, the tuta changed into the teen hero and he stopped in front of them.
“Ready to go?” he asked.
The two groaned, wanting only to sit and stay where they were. Adam laughed.
“Where do you girls live?”
“The mountain in Happy Harbor.”
Adam nodded. He concentrated for a minuto and a brown horse soon stood in front of them. Hop on, Adam instructed in their heads.
“Would we be too heavy?” Willow asked.
No. I gain the strength and skill of the animal I become. I could carry three people as a horse.
The two girls were madami than happy for a free ride and climbed on. When they were settled and hanging on, Adam took off like a bullet. Everything faded into a blur as he raced through the city.
“Is this how Wally sees things?!” Artemis exclaimed.
Willow laughed.
“Almost. But not this clearly.”
Artemis laughed now, feeling free to express her emotions. She makes you wonder how you can be a terrible person, Artemis thought. She's so caring it's almost naive. But there's a wisdom about her. I don't understand how anyone could ever hate her. How anyone could ever deny her joy. No wonder Wally's smitten with her. Artemis dwelled on these thoughts all the way back to the mountain.
Some of what Talon sinabi was true. Artemis had been to afraid to admit her feelings for Wally. He had found Willow and Artemis realized that part of her resented Willow for Wally loving her. But not anymore. Artemis didn't know what had changed her feelings, but there was no resentment and she could honestly say Willow was her friend. When they stopped at the mountain, the two girls got off and Adam turned back to human form.
“Thanks for the ride Adam,” artemis said.
“Welcome. And if you're ever in danger, put your hands above your head with your wrists crossed.”
“Why?” Artemis asked, cocking an eyebrow.
Adam smiled.
“You might get some luck that way. Bye girlies.”
Adam quickly changed to a black bird and flew away.
