I personally really like the new this new episode ("Korra All Alone"?) I thought it was great how they showed the process of her physical recovery and told us of how her mental state progressed to that extent. Clearly reveling to us that no, the awatara is not invincible and you can't expect someone to keep taking hits continual and proceed to carry on. Because she's human and some things take awhile to be digested and heal, while some things can never be overcome.
