What did everybody think of the two "Nutcracker" shows? I though they were really good--both the the tryouts and the rehearsal ipakita because of the different twist she put on it. Anybody who took ballet near a city probably remembers how exciting it was to get a ids part on a real performance with great costumes and professional dancers. I do anyway. Well I think this ipakita is fabulous. Anyone who ever took ballet will appreciate it. But there's one thing that bugs me a little. It's all centered around the girls. There are boy dancers there but they never get to say anything. They're just there to partner the girls. There were two boys who got to talk in Episode 3 (one of whom is Boo's crush). But they were "real" boys who didn't dance, just watched. I think this helps the myth that all boy dancers are sissies who girls aren't interested in. Posted sa loob ng isang taon na ang nakalipas

Funny you should say that. In the book, even the hetero guy dancers with girlfriends and active sex lives are ragged on for being gay because they dance. Men do seem to be missing in action in their lives. But there are a few important invisible men that I'd like to put a face to. I mean, Ginny has been dating the same guy since segundo grade, even though her mother is a ruthless sales agent and extrememly mapait about her husband leaving her. I was totally thinking they were two hundred when she started talking about how they were monitoring their cholesterol together. Melanie, on the other hand, has a big family that she seems pretty connected with. The men in her life are her brother, whom she seems to have wrapped around her finger, and her grandfather, who gets upset if he falls asleep before she finishes pagbaba his paborito news articles. I bet her whole family would buy season tickets if she ever made it to a big city stage. sa loob ng isang taon na ang nakalipas

Thanks a lot, glad someone else noticed it. I haven't read the book but now that you mentioned it, I think I'll give it a try. You make a lot of good points. I'm glad that there are a few men and boys in the ipakita that get to say a few lines. Ginny's a pretty interesting character. I took ballet so, believe me, I understand that boys who dance still get hung with he sissy or gay label, but even if they portray the boys that way, it would be nice to hear them speak and not just be "silent partners!" sa loob ng isang taon na ang nakalipas
