I'm not sure if this really belongs here since technically it's not analysis to ask about his looks, but I think some people project their image of Edward onto him and it makes him seem more attractive to them than he really is, so that counts as analysis, right?

I think he's kinda fugly. Maybe I'd find him more attractive if he didn't look so...unwashed. Seriously dude TAKE. A. SHOWER. he looks as though he probably smells really bad. I wouldn't be surprised to find out he hasn't showered since he got the part of Edward.
He's quite pasty too. He must be the only person on Earth who could move FROM England TO America and somehow get paler. With him playing a 'vamp' it would almost make sense (even though he plays a sun friendly 'vamp and therefore still shouldn't be pale) but even between movies he's so pasty.

Though still not my type he looked better in Harry Potter, back when he had a tan and remembered what a bath was for. These days I have a hard time getting what people see in him. In some cases do you think it is girls projecting their image of Edward onto him, making him seem more attractive to them? Or am I the odd one out not thinking he's cute?

Though I bet that would be less romantic than they think, I imagine him reacting to a bath the way a cat does. Freaking out, clawing and whining then running away and hiding under the couch.
In terms of attractiveness he seems to have a look that appeals to a lot of people, but he's not my type.

Yes, I did find him attractive, when he had short hair.

I remember the huge panic when he cut his hair off, but I liked it that way much better and lets face it, with short hair, it doesn't show off so much that he's not friends with water and shampoo.

But still, most (or all of them) Twi-hards are looking at him through pink glasses and and they see him as Edward, who is supposed to be smokin' hot, so they're under a illusion that he is too the hottest man in the world, which IN MY OPINION he isn't.

He's not ugly. But he's not gorgeous. ESPECIALLY in Twilight. He looks better when his Twilight makeup artists haven't spent two hours making him look like a gaunt, starving refugee who's never seen the sun because he's always hiding in cellars and transport trucks to escape persecution.

Edward Cullen as Hollywood portrays him belongs in a movie about the Armenian genocide more than a teen romance.

He was voted 'hottest man alive' in Heat Magazine.
Which is obviously completely wack, because there are so many people hotter than him.

I didn't originally find him that ugly, more like Jude Law's less attractive little brother.

However seeing his face plastered on every website, magazine, tv, ect. has made me hate the very sight of him. He has become so hideous that I now have a deep desire to smash his face in when I see a single picture.

And Dearheart, I love that interview! Cracked.com posted it in a anti-twilight article and I crack every time I see it. You could tell he was choosing his words carefully, but the point he was trying to make came out loud and clear.

It was also really funny watching fangirls in the comments below fume and then try to re-rationalize everything he said, so he didn't sound like he was bashing Meyer's writing.

I burst out laughing when I read he was cast as Cedric Diggory. I couldn't believe that poor thing was supposed to be the hottest guy in Hogwarts. Seeing he was chosen to play Edward Cullen didn't surprised me. I must have a very poor taste when it comes to males, but seeing the RPatzz makes me proud of it.

i think it was because in harry potter he wasnt so popular and he was good looking , and now all i hear is how much everyone is in love with robert pattinson and its really annoying so now i dont like him

I really can't deny it even on this spot. I honestly think he's gorgeous. But I have a life enough to understand that by some miracle I won't win a flight to wherever it is that he lives, stumble into him and convince him to marry me.

Well, he certainly doesn't do it for me. I do have to admit that I can see what girls like in him, he has a handsome-ish type face. But he looks dirty - and not the right type of dirty. He looks like a tramp in a few pictures and as my friends have decided that 'hobo' is their favourite word for scruffy unclean looking guys, it's rubbed off on me.

Well, this and I find Dearheart's option funny. I like that despite all of the crazy fangirls, he's yet to obsess over even his OWN movie. :)

He does have some physical characteristics that make him good-looking, but I mainly like him for his personality; quiet, shy, scared of Twilight fans. I think we might be able to get along and perhaps become friends from what I've heard about him from reading about interviews or what his costars say about him.....

Also, that was pretty mean silenceplease13. It's ok to not like Twilight, but why bash one of the actors? :(

i rally liked him as cedric in Harry Potter, but now he just looks... weird i guess. i would never have casted him as edward. even though i don't even like edward that much, still striclly talking about looks, edward should be goergos, delicate, and just abselutly beautiful, which robert will never be.

He's not as attractive as everyone makes him out to be. At the end of the day, he looks like everyone else. He doesn't *sparkle* in real life, so I really don't see what all the hype is about, but I know I am way too annoyed to analize his looks at all. I remeber everyone bitching and moaning because he was going to play Edward. Everyone said he was ugly and couldn't act, but as soon as the movies came out, then everyone thought he was the greatest man on earth. How much you want a bet that 99% of all the girls asking him to marry them were the same one's throwing a fit when they first saw him casted for Edward? I saw Rob in the movie, The Haunted Airman two years before Twilight was anywhere to be seen and I thought he was a great actor. I still do think he's a great actor, but the character Edward is destroying him. After the Twilight hype is over and he no longer wants to play the romantic leading male, all of his fan girls will move on and you'll have the newest addition of Mark Hamill. A good actor destroyed by a character he couldn't excape.

Well, the shower things is partly a joke, and I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he's hygienic, but I don't just say it because I'm an anti (I wouldn't have anything personal against an actor just for taking a part) but to me he really does look a bit unclean. Especially his hair. I don't think I've seen his hair not look greasy once since he got more famous. It looks really greasy in every pic I've seen of him, which is what kicked off people's no showers jokes I think.

But a lot of girls think he's hot, so obviously he's got looks that appeal, even if not to me. It's got nothing to do with him playing Edward (I don't like any Twilight characters, but I admit more than one of the actors are good looking) he's just really far from my type. Still, the amount of fangirls he's got, I'm sure he wouldn't give a monkeys if a few of us C.A.Ts aren't wowed by him :)
