I think this would be the only pick on which I would campaign for my choice. I love Aung San Suu Kyi (and Rachel Corrie) so much that I made link for these wonderful heroes. They are each one of my personal heroes and they are fabulous.

I chose Aung San Suu Kyi because she is modern, and her struggles are current and relevant. She fights continuously against one of the worst injustices of our time. She is the rightful leader of Burma, but she is imprisoned as her people are brutally victimized by dictator Than Shwe. Because of her fight, she was unable to be with her husband when he died of cancer. She has literally given everything for her people. She has been called Burma's Nelson Mandela (by Desmond Tutu no less).

While there are so many interesting, powerful, inspiring and amazing people in this pick, I had to pick her, if only to raise awareness about her and her struggle. For more quick info to get you riled up, watch the US Campaign for Burma's link on YouTube.

This is definitely the most difficult of the picks in this countdown for me. It's so much easier to pick a favourite out of fictional characters, with this pick every time I almost chose someone I kept thinking about all the amazing things other women on the list have done.

Margeret Thatcher was the most awful Prime ministeress ever. Granted, we've only had one, but you know what I mean. She decimated the North. She doesn't deserve to be on the Female ass-kickers spot.
