is played by the big hitters: Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, Cersei Lannister and the other headliners. But they wouldn\'t get to where they are now without the B-team. The substitutes who warm the bench but come on from time to time to save the day.
We\'re going to give them their due, and let them know they\'re just as beloved as the people who actually have a chance at taking the Iron Throne.
Matt Damon vs Jimmy Kimmel: TV\'s funniest feud
Good old dependable, "Dolorous" Eddison Tollett has been there from the start. Well, season two. At first he just seemed to be a generic background Night\'s Watch guy, but over time he proved to be Jon Snow\'s most loyal colleague in the North alongside Sam. And now he\'s the bloody Lord Commander! He\'s the Neville Longbottom of
One of these days, Podrick Payne will get his own proper storyline, and stop just following others around. We already know he\'s the greatest lover in all of Westeros, better even than Jaime Lannister or Bronn, apparently. And he\'s become a bit of a BAMF since teaming up with Brienne on her travels. Don\'t mess with him.

It may have taken six seasons to suss him out, but we feel all warm and safe when Varys pops up on our screen. He\'s more cunning than all the Blackadders put together, and we wouldn\'t be surprised if he actually somehow found a loophole that will let him sit on the Iron Throne himself at the end of it all when everyone else has killed each other off.
Davos Seaworth may not be considered one of the show\'s main characters, but admit it, you love it when his Geordie warrior-ness comes on to save the day. Now that he\'s lost his Stannis shackles, he\'s more badass than ever, and is one of the most important people on Jon\'s team as they fight for the main prize. The perfect general.
Biggest attribute: Double hard viking menace
We were all terrified that we\'d lose our favourite wildling during the Battle of the Bastards, but the bearded wonder pulled through. We can\'t wait to see him interact with... pretty much anyone. And of course there\'s that Brienne romance that needs to happen.

If you ever need a putdown writer, hire Diana Rigg\'s fierce Queen Of Thorns. She may have lost the majority of her heirs and close family, but that doesn\'t mean that she\'s lost the war. You\'d be a fool to not want Olenna on your side as the battle rages on, as Cersei will no doubt discover as Daenerys\'s army rolls in.
We\'ve only met Lyanna a couple of times, but she\'s already a scene-stealer. Although she was only, like, two when the series started, she\'s harder than all the Freys and Umbers put together. We\'re hoping we\'ll see her ride into battle against the White Walkers by series\' end.
Where the actual f**k is Gendry now? We loved Robert\'s forgotten bastard son, and many of us hoped he might end up being the true deserving King of Westeros. But since Davos put him on that boat, we\'re assuming he\'s got lost out there on the Blackwater somewhere. Surely it\'s only a matter of time before he suddenly arrives, no doubt all buff from years of fighting of all kinds of baddies. Prediction: Jorah will bump into him on his quest to cure himself from greyscale. Why? Dunno, sounds good.
Potentially our favourite character of all time, if based purely on badassery and awesomeness. We just wish they\'d give Jerome Flynn\'s smooth-talking no-nonsense warrior something more to do other than follow Jaime round all day.
That\'s Wun Weg Wun Dar Wun, to you. Absolutely terrifying to those fighting him, a loveable warm presence to anyone on his side. Potentially the last of all the giants in Westeros, he went down fighting until the very end. It would probably take 10 Melisandres to bring this guy back to life.
We\'ve forgotten what a safe presence Barristan was when he stood by Daenerys\' side (and kept cock-blocking Jorah). Even Jaime was fully aware of how tough this dude was. And it took about 134 Sons of the Harpy to finally finish him off. We miss you, Barristan the Bold.
Allegiance: House StarkStatus: DeceasedBiggest attribute: Sideburns he could tie under his chin
This guy would fight to the death to save the Starks. And er.. he did. Even in his old age, he was still a skilled warrior, and would have been a useful ally of Jon\'s right now if Theon hadn\'t been such a massive idiot.
Biggest attribute: Loveliest man ever known, ever
We\'ve mentioned a few calming presences already in this list, but this guy tops the chart. As soon as you saw his face it was like having a hot bubble bath and listening to Barry White read you a story. Another victim of Theon\'s betrayal at Winterfell, if it weren\'t for the wise and learned maester we wouldn\'t have Bran, and Hod... oh. Well, the rest of them are dead now, but still.
We only knew Syrio for a handful of episodes, but we loved every second of his montage-style swordfighting lessons with Arya. So much so, that five seasons later we\'re still expecting him to pop up suddenly as we didn\'t actually see him die. It can happen, right?
Cersei may not have many friends right now, but she\'s at the very least got one of the creepiest, yet most fascinating, blokes in all the Seven Kingdoms. God knows what he did to save The Mountain, but he knows how to handle wildfire and has a horde of little children doing his evil bidding. We honestly can\'t wait to see what crazy Qybs is gonna do next.
