G-Friend say they\'re grateful for being compared to Girls\' Generation + talk about debuting and dieting

New girl group G-Friend sat down for an interview for the first time ever since debuting, showing some signs of nerves, which quickly went away as they became more comfortable and talkative.  The youthful six members with an average age of 18 were revealed to have undergone training for at least 1.5 years and at most 5 years not only from their current agency but also from other ones, such as Cube, CJ, Loen, and DSP!

Yerin said, "It hasn\'t hit me yet that we debuted.  We don\'t have a cell phone or laptop, so we don\'t go on the internet much.  Once in a while, we go on a company computer to look at music sites, and we wondered if the G-Friend that would rank [on the music site] was really us.  Everything is still very fascinating."

Umji said, "When we were doing the pre-recording for a music show, our fans came for which I was very grateful.  There are no chances for me to express my gratitude except to write on the fan cafe and wave my hands in the car when we\'re going somewhere.  I want to quickly and intimately greet my fans and share things with them through a fan meeting or fan signing event.  And whenever I see the fans, I think I need to work harder."

In relation to their song and concept reminding everybody of Girls\' Generation from the get-go,

Sowon and Umji said, "When we first heard the guide for the song \'Glass Bead,\' we felt the 90\'s girl group vibe rather than that of a Girls\' Generation song.  We think that showing the image of girls who are young but overflowing with health and vigor is something we can only do at this age.  We wanted to show our energetic and playful side in school, so we tried our best, but it appears to have come off similarly [to Girls\' Generation].  Anyways, we are of course grateful that people thought of Girls\' Generation when they saw us.  We think it also makes us feel more responsible to work harder."

They also revealed they dieted since they were trainees, although they were the types to not gain weight.  They ate mostly salads as rice was not allowed, expressing the difficulty of maintaining a diet.

Have you already watch a performance of them? And watch snsd debut song perf. ?? It\'s too much a copy, I know Korean are more tolerant with the copying thing but come in this case it\'s too much ... Where the Korean originality ? ...

I have never liked a cute concept from any kpop group and G-friend are the first i actually like! Proud fan :)

I love this group i already addicted to them, and yes being a sone they bring that fresh pretty felling that snsd has when debuted. I like all the album and the girls are so synchronized when dance. No a single mistake in stage. 

This small company came with this amazing group, with simply clothes, less make up and fresh looks, and look at them! doing really well on charts. congrats!!

All their songs are good, not only glass bead. tbh I love their album!

SNSD - fake 2NE1 - Druggies/tryhards Apink - copycats SISTAR/4Minute/Miss A - famous for one girl Lbh, being compared to any group would lead to connotations. At least SNSD was the most successful out of them all lol that\'s why they\'re honored

What the hell does the G in g-friend stand for?

Their name is "Girlfriend" but comparisons to Starship\'s "Boyfriend" led to the company using GFriend for short instead.

@YeShiQa Umm. no. Besides Yuju, Eunha\'s voice is quite neat, and SinB\'s voice is pretty decent.

Girls that young shouldn\'t be dieting unless they are medically overweight... It can ruin your metabolism for life.  Eating healthy is one thing; dieting is another.

I really like them. I think they\'re going be one of my favorite group this year :P

I like them. They\'re cute. They seem fun and playful too. Yuju is my favorite, she\'s gorgeous and her voice is beautiful. Gfriend fighting :)

Those are not even necessities. XD The company has to pay for everything, so the girls have to bring in income in order to get accommodations. It\'s not like the company is forcing this, they more than likely can\'t afford it for each girl at this point.
