Is it ever okay to give a character a name without regarding their ethnicity?

Yeah, that probably is worded in the most difficult and incomprehensible ways possible because I'm an oddling...

I mean like, is it okay if you have a character that is from an Asian decent, but bears a Greek name?

I've been trying to write this book for like 5 years or so, and I base my character's names off of their meaning rather than origin. The main character's adoptive father comes from an Asian family, but I can't find any Asian names that I like that suit him, but I have a particular Greek one that I'm interested in using, but I don't really know if that's acceptable.

So is it, or is that just too weird? Or am I just putting too much thought in to this?

And I totally understand if this is one of those TL;DR things. XD I know full well that I am exuberantly long winded and... well... talk weird. XD

Very easy way to solve this. Just say the character's mixed of whatever ethnicity you choose to use and honestly I would like to know a character's ethnicity but it is not that important. The story is the most important part for me and don't worry I talk alot too. xD

Well the character is biracial and his ethnicity IS started in his paglalarawan so I suppose it's okay... XD I just worry is all. And hoorah for endless blabbering! I'm not alone! (^o▽o)^

It wasn't understandably that I was concerned about as much as... weird...ness. And it's perfectly fine? Good. XD I have two people saying it's fine. I can stop worrying!

I dont think that readers take that all into consideration. Your overthinking it. If you thing the name bumagay your character than use it. It will be fine.
